Been a user of MM for around 6 yrs. Very few problems until I upgraded from 3x to 4x. Terrible mistake on my part to not have done a system restore 1st. Live and learn...
Anyway, did the upgrade, all appeared to go well until I tried to synch my music to my 16g usb drive. Quite a diaster. MM kept locking up, I got disgusted, uninstalled it, went through the registry and deleted everything that said MM. Could not locate a 3x version to re-install (which was my preference), so re-installed 4x again. Again, installed fine, no apparent errors. Go in to try to synch my usb drive and when I go to configure the synch (Tools, Option, Portable devices, MM shows me all my devices. I double-click on the usb drive and get a windows dialogue box
"Access violation at address 0056e77e in module "Mediamonkey.exe'. Read of address 0000008e."
I plugged in my Sansa Fuze, go to configure it using the same method above and it gives the same error. I noticed that both of these devices are using the same plug-file "d_WMDM.dll".
Additional info:
I am using default scripts
I have Windows media player of course. I also have SoMud which is a music/video client for DL media. I also have Total Media Theatre 5 that I use for playing back videos only.
All music is stored in same folder with subfolders for each artist
Abosolutely no problems at all using MM 3x on this same PC. Synching was never an issue either. My preference at the moment is to get back to that so I can use my system. If anyone has a the 3x DL on their PC, it would be awesome to get it from you. I am a lifetime Gold member. Can provide email I was sent with user id, serial number (you won't actually be able to see all of the SN).
I have always updated MM over the years and never had anything like this happen so I was a bit more complacent doing the upgrade that I should have been.
I appreciate any suggestion, ideas, etc to get MM4 to work properly. As I stated earlier, a DL of the most recent 3x version would be great. Standard version is fine. I can use my license key to update it to Gold.
Thanks!
