Did not import x files (did not match import criteria)

Postby mm5678 » Fri Dec 30, 2011 6:47 pm

1. I had older free copy of MM v. 3.x. Decided to remove and upgrade to latest free version 4.0.2.1462.
When I loaded newer version and it asked which file types to import, I checked all of them.
When I did, I was not able to import a third, 3122 files of my music.
Nothing in the file formats changed from older version of MM to new one which makes me wish I had not done so.

I have found on forum threads of others with same issues:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=57033 and http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7918
But as such, I did not see how to fix from these articles. Please advise.

2. I know have duplicate tracks as well. How do I eliminate?

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback.
I tried your suggestion re: adding existing files to the library. did the suggestions twice and still got 3122 files that did not import.
i will try the duplicate file suggestion and see if that works.
any other suggestions are appreicated.

Are you sure they're music files and not image, log, cue, lyrics, txt, exe, doc, etc. files in the scanned folders? Also make sure all applicable File Types are selected in the Add/Rescan Files dialog.

Did you check other Collections like Classical Music as that's were missing files are most often found: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

I'm having the same problem. I've changed the settings to import every type of file. I've unchecked all the boxes that say "ignore files..." I've identified one folder of music that's not importing. The files are flac files, but that's not the problem because other flac files are importing. When I ask MM to import from that folder, it scans the files but doesn't import any of them, saying that they did not meet import criteria. What other import criteria are there? I've looked through all the help files I can find, and can't solve this. I can only import a tiny portion of my library, this is a real problem! Thanks in advance for your help!

Best place to check is Entire Library > Location and navigate to the folder the files are stored (enable under File > Manage Collections).

Sorry, I thought I was more clear about what was happening. The problem isn't that the music files import but then don't appear on my list. The problem is that MM is not importing them. According to the message MM gives me during the import process, it says they are not imported because they do not meet import criteria. Since I have all the import criteria I can find set to import everything, I'm at a loss. But yes, just to be sure, I also checked under Classical, and it seems that anything that is there also shows up when I look at "entire library" anyway.

Any ideas on changing the import settings would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So you're saying the files don't show under Entire Library > Location when navigating to their folder(s).

Other than File Types and Tools > Options > Library's ignore files there are no other settings. It could be that the files have some incompatibility, you could open a support ticket with a link to a filesharing like Dropbox where the developers can download a sample file that fails to import for analysis: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... &_a=submit

I cannot add music files either, since the last update. I suggest the developers to check what has been changed in the "import files" code. It is clear that there is a switch that makes all new files to fall outside the importing criteria.

Did you verify in the Entire Library > Location node that the files aren't in your Library? That's where pretty much everybody is finding the "missing" files. The did not import number includes all non-media files found in the scanned folder like log, cue, txt, pdf, jpg, docx, exe, etc.

I encouter the same problem here. 99% of my files are scanned and recognized by MM, but for some. If I rescan the missing folders (Music, Location, Network, ...), I get the 'did not match import criterium message'. If use Windows Explorer and open them MM plays the missing FLACs/MP3s just fine. The directories do not contain any other files.

I have no clue why MM skips some of my music!

Found what happened: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=65646#p336350. What a stupid way to split your collection (okay, I admit, that's an opinion).

Which is why Gold users can change Collection to their own needs.
