Artwork Problem

Postby Texasissouth » Tue Jan 03, 2012 7:59 pm

I recently upgraded to MM4 and enjoyed the new layout and interface. However, playing my library today I noticed something I hadn't before, artwork for various albums which had artwork of their own had been changed to the artwork from the Tron Soundtrack. I was a bit confused as to how this happened, and I checked the actual files in my computer and the album artwork in the file information is the old artwork, not Tron, but when I open up song properties in MM4, it shows two copies of the Tron artwork. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this and how I could prevent it from happening to more albums. Thanks.

I'm getting a similar problem. I went through and auto-tagged from web, manually edited and cleaned up some files before auto-organizing. After going through 100's of albums and auto-organizing. I clicked on a different tab, then right back to the 'Music' tab I was previously in. Instead of showing where I was before - around Brad Paisley in an alphabetical listing, I was back to the top of my list (which is annoying, but has been happening often). As I scrolled down there's dozens of changes to album art that were not there when I auto-organized.

Example: A 2Pac album now has a Tribe Called Quest's art. I go into properties and to look at artwork and there are two images, but both only show the generic 'art' image (grey cd w/ musical note). I reverse the images (bottom to the top), now 2Pac has Al Green's greatest hits for a cover. No 2pac art to be found. I save my art to tracks, not as a file in the folder. Should I change this? Why is the art different? Really annoying, specially since I just cleaned everything up.

This has been happening a little bit here and there, but this was significant and looks to be a lot of menial work to fix. Help!!

So a couple other things with the art problem:
1.Al Green's greatest hits is now saved on every album I've opened, even the albums that are showing correct art. In artwork, neither image actually shows what it is (just the generic grey image), but the top one says cover-front and is acurate. The second image is 'not specified and if I move it to the top and hit OK, Al Green now becomes the album art. Then I switch the Cover (front) back to the top, but all green stays. I had recently Auto Tag from Web Al Greens Greatest Hits, looking for new art.

2.The cover to Tribe Called Quest's anthology showed up on 2Pac as well as a second Tribe album, in addition to Anthology.

3.Super Mercado by 2 Skinnee J's had acurate art. Opening artwork and moving bottom image to top (both generic images), caused the Al Green cover to appear. So I auto tag from web for image, it appears. Then I Auto tag 2Pac, the Auto Tag shows the correct 2Pac art, but when I hit "auto-tag" the 2 Skinnee J's art appears for 2Pac.

4.When I click properties for an album, opens right up. When I click on Artwork, there's a pause and small box that says "please wait" appears for about a second then the artwork properties becomes available. Do I have some Auto-save / paste option enabled?

Please Help. This sucks!

And yet some more:
1.So now I go into artwork that is acurate, every album now has a not specified image (and both still show up as generic), I delete the bottom image and leave the cover-front that is correct. Now the art for 2 Skinnee J's appears for every album. I feel like the 'please wait' box is overriding artwork with whatever stored image it has at the time whenever I open the art properties.

Thanks for any help or advice.

Existing artwork overwritten

Postby saggy » Thu May 17, 2012 2:24 pm

Aagggghhhh!! Please help!

I've been having an issue since upgrading to V4 - when editing a track or property, the existing artwork is replaced with another albums artwork - sometimes the new art is something random, sometimes a recently added or edited album / track.

Example - I recently added one song - Aldebaran Waltz by B. Fleischmann off the album Humbucking Coil, the picture was associated with the track, I didn't add the art. I changed some properties then auto organized to create a new folder for B. Fleischmann and save the track where I wanted.

I then went on to change my rating on some Jamiroquai tracks. Didn't change the properties or art for Jamiroquai - of the 4 albums I changed my ratings for - 3 now show the Humbucking Coil artwork. While one album kept the original accurate artwork.

I have not noticed a trigger or consistent source of this artwork overwrite - but it happens pretty regularly. I am a big fan of Media Monkey because of the options for organization, this problem really takes away from my ease of use and creates a lot more work and difficulty. Haven't found any issues quite like this while searching the forums. I am not the most tech savvy, so I would appreciate any help or advice. Let me know what other information or examples would be helpful in solving this problem.

Hi Saggy,

I'm not sure what's going on, but this is clearly not normal behavior. Can you:

1) Install the latest beta version of MediaMonkey (build 1498 at the moment) from: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=54426&sd=d

When you install it, please do so to in Portable mode to a _temporary_ directory (so that it doesn't use any settings from your main install, and so that it rescans all your tracks afresh)

Does the problem still occur?

2) If yes, can you post a video using Jing that shows the incorrect artwork, along with information re. the path of the incorrect artwork, and/or whether each of the incorrect images are actually embedded within the music files.

Thanks.

I won't be able to get to it for a day or so, but I'll work through the steps to listed.

I updated to a beta from a couple weeks ago hoping that would help, but the issue still persists - also, I don't save artwork in file folders, should that preference make a difference?

Thanks for the help! - more when I have a chance to work on it a bit.

Rusty,

Downloaded build 1499 and in the process of scanning my tracks. While MM is scanning the music folder - compared the artwork for Artist De La Soul.....

The albums that have inaccurate art in the previous version 4.0.3 and 4.0.5 beta are all out missing in 4.0.6 portable. Buhloone Mind State, Is Dead, Bionix, Live, and Impossible Mission all are missing in the 4.0.6, nothing in album art, while the previous versions all have the wrong art - the weird thing is that the artwork that is inaccurate is still from De La Soul - it's often another album cover from the same artist that's in the wrong spot - I noticed that as I worked on properties and re-tagged files, those were the albums to turn up with bad art, though it wasn't an immediate switch. In the old versions of MM, when I edit art work, there are always two images - image type: Not specified and they're blank/generic images (music note on cd) I have to delete them and then add the new image. Sometimes they come back after that.

Again - I'm not saving the jpg to the folder. Any advice, way to avoid re-finding art for 35% of my music?

Thanks for your help! I'll post more when I have a second and look at more artwork when 4.0.6 finishes scanning.

My guess is that the problems you're experiencing are related to fix #9267 which solved the problem of tracks sometimes displaying incorrect album art in the Art / Art & Details views in cases where tracks from multiple albums were contained within a single directory.

But I may be misunderstanding your particular issue so would it be possible to create a video with Jing illustrating the problem?
