Dear devs, dear users
I am not sure whether the following behaviour is wished or not:
The issue: I make changes in my preferences/settings, and they persist while MM is still running. Now, if I close MM correctly (regular program close, no kill), then the preferences are kept and are reappearing in a new session. On the other hand, if any kind of unclean exit is performed (program is killed, OS crash, while MM is running), the preferences won't reappear in the new session, i.e. they are not written into the .ini file(s).
current build: MediaMonkey 4.0.3.1476 RC, experienced as long as I remember using MM
Request: IMHO, I would prefer, if MM saves settings and preferences as soon as I press "save" in a dialogue box. Independently on what kind of exit will happen afterwards.
Current workaround: To be sure, my settings is saved, I perform a clean restart of the MM (regular close and open). For me, it is an unnecessary extra action and interruption (manual, visual and acoustic).
Background info: I run MM usually days long: MM starts up with my PC, and it is not a program to be closed -- e.g. clicking on the MM notification icon for silence is more convenient than closing and reopening MM. Therefore an unclean exit is statistically more likely than a clean one. I experience this for a long time now, especially using the debug builds, and experimenting with the settings -- it regularly happens that I forget what was that parameter that was changed and that worked for the last three days as I had wished?! (rhetorical question)
I am looking forward to hear your opinion.
Cheers, M
