I have a terrible feeling I know why MM won't load

Post by Sunqist »

I just installed MM4 in an attempt to find a program that will actually manage my new ipod nano. I open the program (from the start menu, the desktop icon, or the directory, doesn't matter), it gives me the "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?" prompt like I'm trying to install it, the splash screen comes up and sits there for a few seconds (regardless of how I answer the previous prompt), and then it never actually loads. It shows up in Task Manager for about a second after the splash screen disappears, and then all trace of it is gone. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, which looks like it shouldn't be a problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried running the program in a variety of different modes, but nothing seems to make a difference or change anything. I checked out this page http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... d=33&nav=0 and nothing on there seems super useful. However, I'm concerned about this point:
3)If Quicktime has been corrupted in some manner, it may prevent MediaMonkey from starting up.
I know quicktime isn't corrupted because I don't have quicktime installed. Does quicktime need to be installed in order for MM to work? Please say there's some other obvious solution that I just haven't found yet. There's a reason I'm not using itunes for this.

Make sure you're running 4.0.3.1476: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 37#p331837

If that fails rename d_iphone.dll to d_iphone.dll.off in the Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins folder.

And if that fails submit a debug log (step 4b) to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69
