firstly written tags are not accepted (flac?)

Postby Macarena » Fri Feb 24, 2012 4:40 am

Dear Devs,

I experienced a strange behaviour when tagging brand new track -- lost tagging, when editing the track for the first time. The tracks were FLAC, I am not sure about other filetypes, yet.

Prerequisites:
- new album dragged into MM
- volume-levelling done
- tracks played, all playable

The following is show in the video: http://screencast.com/t/cqyfO9rD0W4
- switching to the folder (My Computer) tree
- select all
- edit File Properties for Disc and Album Title
- tags saved (the window is closed, and one can see a progress bar of saving the tags)
- a track played
- MM reverts all the tagging to the previous one
(end of the video)

Is that awaited, please?

Entering the disc number the second time is persistent, i.e. MM does not change to the previous tag anymore.

Cheers, M

This behaviour (loosing firstly written tags, and keeping them after the second edit) is valid for each tag separately. I.e. I have to repeat the process of double editing with each tag (disc, album title, artist) I want to change. M

Thanks. Reproduced even with MP3. Tracked as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=9187

Dear Devs,

the issue was fixed for FLAC and MP3. Thank you. Now I can reproduce it with FLV videos. Do you think the issue above could be format dependent? Or is a different issue with respect to the FLV format? WMV format behaves good.

Steps to reproduce:
- switching to the folder (My Computer) tree
- select an FLV video
- edit File Properties for Disc and Album and Title
- tags saved (the window is closed, and one can see a progress bar of saving the tags)
- a track played (or I do not even have to play)
- I step out of the folder (one above) and back
- MM reverts all the tagging to the previous one

Cheers, M

I don't think FLV tagging is supported. It is not mentioned here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... erties/4.0

FLV tagging is not supported yet. MM4 can only read tags from FLV, it writes FLV tags only to MM library, not file.

Thanks for the info, MiPi,

I do not think it even writes it into its own database. The file properties are not updated by me. M

It is related to Library nodes only, not "My Computer" node. It should read values from MM database in Library nodes.
