Collections V4 versus Filters V3

Postby arthurb » Mon Feb 27, 2012 3:25 pm

Can anyone tell me exactly what are the differences, and hopefully the improvements, between the use of Filters and Views in MM v3 and the use of Collections in MM v4? I use Filters and Views extensively for my classical stuff, and the two functions do rather seem to be the same. Is there really a great deal more functionality with Collections?

It's the same thing, but instead having to switch between Filters to Filter the Library, Collections are always available in the Tree.

Thanks Lowlander, although your reply is somewhat disappointing; I cannot see that it is any improvement on what we have in V3 where you can switch between filtered views with a click to drop-down and a second click to select. Ah well, I will look on the bright side: at least it is not worse than in V3...

Regards.

It's a huge improvement as it is really easy to switch Collection. I never really used Filter as it was too much work to keep switching between them, but I use Collections as it is much easier to switch back & forth and more important as video is also supported now.

It's even better than that, since you can show multiple collections in the tree at a time. So it only takes one click to switch between them.

But I prefer to open a tab for each collection, since the tabs are remembered in between sessions you can just use the tabs to manage different collections.
