IPod Shuffle won't play

I just purchased a new waterproof IPod shuffle. I downloaded some track onto my new shuffle using MM, but it will not play a thing. I sent back the first one I was mailed becasue I thought it was the unit. They said they had the same problme as well but once they wiped the music and reloaded everything with ITunes, it worked fine. So, now I'm going through the same issue again with IPod #2. It has to be something I'm not doing with MM. My other IPod 80GB works just fine. HELP!!

How did you send the files to the device? You can always try Rebuild Device Database to see if it fixes things.

From my favs folder, I right clicked and selected "send to" and selected "IPod." From there the files downloaded directly onto the IPod but it won't play. I can see all of the music files on the IPod, either in MM or windows, and they will play through while plugged into my computer. But when I remove the IPod and plug in headphones...... nothing.

What version of MM, and which generation shuffle?

Something must have gotten corrupted on the device, as that version of MM should work with that iPod. Just clear your device and resync.

I'd still suggest you update to MM4.

I too have an iPod Shuffle 4th gen that would not sync with MM4. My symptoms were that some tracks would be skipped during sync in MM4, tracks would be sent to the Shuffle but would be skipped by the Shuffle during playback, or tracks would not be recognized at all by the Shuffle and I would receive the message to "use iTunes to add tracks".

I have found a work around.

1. Plug the iPod Shuffle into the USB port on the computer.
2. Start MediaMonkey.
3. Use MediaMonkey to add music to iPod Shuffle, or to remove music from iPod Shuffle.
4. Leave the iPod Shuffle connected to the computer (do not click Safely Remove, and do not unplug the iPod Shuffle from the USB port).
5. Close MediaMonkey.
6. Start iTunes.
7. In iTunes, click iPod Shuffle.
8. Click Music, and then verify that the music you want is on the iPod Shuffle.
9. Click the arrow next to iPod Shuffle to disconnect the iPod .
10. Listen to the iPod until you want to change the songs again.
11. Repeat these steps.
