MonkeySqueeze not playing

Postby andrevandenbroek » Sun Mar 04, 2012 11:25 am

Hi,

I installed MonkeySqueeze on my PC. My LMS is running on a Windows Homeserver2011. The music files are also stored on this server. After clicking the Monkeysqueeze button in MM, the playlist starts synchronizing. Than the Logitech Squeezebox switches on, clears its playlist, but does not start playing.

Anyone can help me?

MonkeySqueeze V3.0

Postby Frietje » Mon Mar 12, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi Gingernut,

I am using the latest version of Media Monkey.
My music is stored on a synology (Linux) NAS.
I use Squezebox Server via synology disk station, I also have LMS installed on my pc.
All the settings should be fine, Monkeysqueze still doesn't work. Any idea?

Sorry for the late reply andrevandenbroek, I didn't receive a notification e-mail of your post.

Funny you should raise this issue as I'm about to issue an update regarding WHS 2011.

Presumably you have followed all instructions in the User Guide. If not do so now. Pay special attention to the following info.

Please read the "3. Music/Media Folders" and "4. LMS on a Linux NAS" sections in the user guide, quick instructions below:

1. Go to the MonkeySqueeze Options page
2. Go to the LMS on a Linux NAS section
3. Select Enable
4. Enter the address of the music library on WHS 2011 as used by MediaMonkey. eg: X:\Music (Mapped drive)
5. Go to the LMS Web Page > Server Settings > Basic Settings > Music Folder and copy the address of the music folder, e.g. D:\ServerFolders\Music\. Enter the address of the music library in the LMS section. The only difference between a Linux NAS and WHS 2011 is the address in LMS. Forward slashes are used for Linux, backslashes for Windows.
Note: For Windows devices make sure the LMS media folder address ends with a back slash.
6. Click OK and it should work

LMS on the Synology NAS should work. No need to use the version of LMS on your PC. Please read all the instructions in the User Guide if you already have not done so.

As per the previous post, please pay special attention to the following instructions:

Please read the "3. Music/Media Folders" and "4. LMS on a Linux NAS" sections in the user guide, quick instructions below:

1. Go to the MonkeySqueeze Options page
2. Go to the "LMS on a Linux NAS" section
3. Select Enable
4. If using Squeezebox Server prior to v7.5.1 then select the appropriate box, if not leave it blank.
5. Enter the address of the music library on the Synology as used by MediaMonkey. eg: X:\Music (Mapped drive)
6. Go to the LMS Web Page > Server Settings > Basic Settings > Music Folder and copy the address of the music folder, e.g. /media/Music. Enter the address of the music library in the LMS section.
7. Click OK and it should work

Let me know how you get on.

New Beta release!

Nothing major with this one just a change to the options page to aid connection to LMS on Windows Home Server 2011 or other server product.

Hi,

I tried out MediaMonkey4 with a dodgy download and installed MonkeySqueeze with the settings for my Linux QNAP NAS, it worked straight away. I was happy with MediaMonkey so I bought the Gold version 4 license, set it up in exactly the same way (Administrator, etc) and now it doesnt work!

I get multiple 'synchronising playlists' bars in the status bar, and MediaMonkey pretty much crashes.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Fateyes

Hi,

I've just noticed that after a couple of minutes it does actually start playing through the squeezebox...but literally a couple of minutes. And I've still got these multiple bars saying 'Synchronising playlists'...

Thanks,

Mmmmm interesting. The only time I have witnessed multiple progress bars is when starting, stopping and starting MonkeySqueeze while a sync is in progress. MonkeySqueeze will work with all versions of MM 4 whether Free, Gold or Lifetime. Try the following:

1. Copy down all variables on the Options page or do a screen dump
2. Uninstall MonkeySqueeze via Tools > Extensions > Uninstall, following the instructions in the User Guide
3. Reinstall MonkeySqueeze as administrator or single user and fill out the Options page again
4. If that doesn't work, uninstall MediaMonkey, restart Windows and then reinstall, followed by MonkeySqueeze again

Let me know how you get on.

Hi,

Yeah, I had already tried a few times with uninstalling both the script and the software. I've tried completely rescanning the library from scratch, and same on SqueezeServer (no idea if that would make any difference) but same results - multiple 'synchronising playlists'...could it be anything to do with firewall/router setup?

Thanks for any tips - I would LOVE to get this working, its been a long time coming!

Cheers,

Hey,

I tried again. I have noticed that even if I uninstall everything, when I reinstall the settings are remembered. I made sure I deleted the mediamonkey folder with script info in as well.

I might just have to go back to the hacked version of MM that I downloaded??

Cheers,

Rescanning the music libraries won't help with this one. How long did you have it working before the upgrade to Gold? Did you play a few different playlists? Did you upgrade the "funny" version?

Please list all your settings on the Options page (apart from the MAC address).

Don't worry about the ha-hm, "funny" version, it will not be required.

Please follow the instructions below:
1. Uninstall MediaMonkey
2. delete the MediaMonkey folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaMonkey or C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey
3. delete the folder at C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey (this contains all the settings) or find and delete "MediaMonkey.ini"
4. Install the freeware version of MediaMonkey http://www.mediamonkey.com/download/
5. Install MonkeySqueeze

If that fixes the problem then the freeware version can be upgraded using your Gold membership

If that doesn't work then repeat instructions above but replace step 4 with the following
4. Install the freeware version of MediaMonkey as a portable install on a usb drive

Cheers

Hi,

Bizarre, none of those changes makes any difference, portable install included.

Details:

Windows 7 64bit
QNAP 119p+ NAS
SqueezeServer 7.5.4R3

Latest MediaMonkey, latest MonkeySqueeze
MonkeySqueeze settings:

IP 192.168.1.2 port 9001
cut and pasted MAC address
checked NAS
Z:\Music
/QMultimedia/Music

Yes it is bizarre, settings look fine. Presumably the QNAP 119p can't run a newer version of Squeeze Server (LMS) as it's an older underpowered unit?

Fast running out of options. Got a feeling we are overlooking something simple.....

More suggestions:
1. Download MonkeySqueeze 3.0 again in case of issues with previous download http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... eysqueeze/
2. Just for a trial you can install LMS 7.7 on the PC and link MonkeySqueeze to it. Don't check NAS. No need to scan the library in LMS as MonkeySqueeze will send the music file address to LMS (doesn't work with a NAS - see user guide). This would confirm if you can get it working again.
3. Download MonkeySqueeze 2.0 and give it a whirl (under Version History/Details)

Cheers
