Text blacked out and no files play

Postby atnmitch » Fri Mar 02, 2012 2:19 pm

Hello,
I have just installed mediamonkey and no file will play and the texts of the menu and seekbar are blacked out. I have just reinstalled my Windows and thus mediamonkey.
Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this? and a solution?
I have included an image for you to see the blacking out.
Thank you

It's because you're using some kind of custom Windows theme. You can solve it by switching back to the default.

I have done that and the text now shows normally, thank you.
However I cannot play any music files, the seek bar advances but no sound is coming out.

Make sure the MediaMonkey volume isn't muted/set to zero (right click on MediaMonkey in Tray and select Volume). If that's not the case make sure the correct Audio Device is enabled in the enabled output plugin (Tools > Options > Output Plug-ins).

Check the volume bar in MM, and the Win 7 volume mixer to make sure the volume isn't set really low.

I have checked those and they are all normal, I have also tried all the different output plugins and none work.

Thank you both for your help. I solved it. The problem was the MP3 input so i downloaded another codec and it is now working fine. Apologies for wasting your time.

I have the same problem with the sound and I've tried everything that is mentioned on this site regarding getting the sound back. MP3 codec? I did not try that... would you care to elaborate on how to do this? Thanks in advance for your help... much appreciated.

Thank you for that link but I just fixed it about an hour ago. YES is was a dumb mistake on my part  ... the mute button on the Volume Mixer on my laptop was turned on. How that happened I have no idea. And to think of all the hours that I spent researching this matter! Oh well, to turn a 'negative into a positive' I learned a lot along the way. Thanks again for your response and my aplogies if I bothered you. All the best. ~PeAcE~
