Deleting files ON my device & staying OFF!

Postby martynmbc » Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:26 pm

Hi,

I am using MM to sync music to my Archos 80 G9 250GB which is used purely as a car stereo. Whilst I am on my travels I come across songs that I do not want to hear again (i.e. Wifes French Christmas Songs!!) so when she is not in the car I hold & the song is permanently deleted from the hard disk...until of course I connect it back up to my PC again.. Of course I understand why the songs are put back, I was just wondering if there is a setting somewhere that would ask me for confirmation or somehow realise what I am trying to do....any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

You'll need to tell MediaMonkey to not sync those files anymore.

If you're driving you shouldn't be removing songs in the first place. Might be somebodies kid you run over while fiddling with the device.

errrr a bit hostile this place isn't it? I only just downloaded MM for a trial before purchase, but forget that now! I am a member of 50+ forums & do not need to be spoken to with aggression I will find another "friendlier" sync program. I cannot see how you find holding your finger on a device mounted into your dashboard in place of the FACTORY fitted screen for 1 second (all that is needed to remove a song) dangerous is any way!

Well in many places that is illegal, so it must be dangerous if certain places have laws against it and I have to agree with that.

I don't think there is anyway to tell on the device what MediaMonkey shouldn't sync the next time around.

Hi, This is my first post so let me just say I've had MM gold for years now and love it!!!

Right, now to the question, I use music on my phone now more than on the laptop and would like to be able to delete music off the phone and when synchronised with the laptop have it deleted off there too. Can someone help me find out how to do this? I really need to trim the fat off of my collection and the phone is the most convenient way to do this.

Also for some reason my playlists are only syncronising one way, if I edit them on the phone they don't update on the laptop.

MM isn't made to work this way, it always assumes that whatever is on the computer is the master file and only copies that info one way to devices.

Well with android devices getting more popular I think this is a feature well worth considering. I have 28GB of music on my phone and will likely put it on my tablet as well when I get it. Being able to synchronise changes in playlists and adding/deleting music from each would be very useful. When I'm away from home with just my phone for days at a time it's nice to give my music collection a bit of maintainance on the go.

For now I might have to experiment a little with windows Synctoy and see if that will make MM do what I want it to do.

They're working on an Android App so perhaps it will be able to do this.
