I am using MM Gold 4.0.3.1476.
In the past MM always auto refreshed the search results in the details pane as I edited the files' properties. It doesn't seem to be doing that in this version. (I have to delete, then replace, a character in the search box to get the new results.)
Sorry if this has been discussed. I hunted around but didn't find anything. If so, please give me a link.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Search not auto-refreshing anymore?
MM has never done this, from what I recall. Just tested in an earlier version of MM4 as well as with MM3.2 and this doesn't occur. So unless I'm remembering incorrectly and you're referring to pre-3.2, then you may be mistaken.
Re: Search not auto-refreshing anymore?
I'm not aware that files disappear on editing from a view if they don't match the criteria for that view. Be that Search results or a tree node. This would actually be annoying as every time you're editing you'd need to hunt down the edited files.
Have you tried F5 to refresh the view?

Re: Search not auto-refreshing anymore?
O.K. I just opened up my old 3.2.4 and it does it too. I'm not sure why I don't remember this. I've been around for a long time, indeed.
I have this search tool called Everything and I've been messing with it, as well as Win7's search lately. I guess I just got used to things disappearing (as a form of confirmation that my changes were effective.)
Tabbed interfaces are an absolute must with real-time filters like this. I LOVE MM's new tabs! I guess that's why I noticed too. When I check another filtered tab for my changes I don't see them until I refresh.
F5 is the solution. Thank you!
P.S. It's also the solution for getting your playlists (in the Tree Node) to update if they're being slow.
