Moving from foobar2000 (not yet)

Post by Xyzzy »

Hello,

While exploring possibility of moving from foobar2000 as a media library manager, I realized that the following features are not available in MM:

- Ability do define more than 5 custom fields and associate them with specific TXXX tags (Fe. I use a TXXX tag "GROUP NAME" - tracks group).
- Ability to display item count for nodes in the tree panel.
- In "Show art" modes captions cannot be customized, specifically I would like to display for stars contents of my custom "ALBUM RATING" tag, and fe. add there genre and disable displaying as links.
- Ability to customize items under Music node (fe create an item Country\Genre\Artist\Album).
- Cue file support (treat cue+ associated file(s) as an album)

Hello,

2) + 4) : Probably possible using "Magic Nodes"

See: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... agic+nodes

5) : better cue support is planned for version 4.1

Hi Dreadlau,

Magic Nodes is OK, definitely something similar should be integrated with the main application.

Really pity so little is available in MM regarding custom tags (and there are lots of simple information that there are no tags for, fe. artist country), and customizing main view.

I would really like to be able to have a "cue file + FLAC file" set that when added to MediaMonkey will create all the tracks in the database from the cue sheet. There will only a single flac file with music, but we can have a track view/selection in the library. Other software I'm using has this feature (Logitech Media Server). I think this is planned, but just wanted to add my vote.
