After tagging, mp3s became 'files'.

Postby OfficialJab » Thu Mar 08, 2012 10:59 pm

I couldn't find another topic about this, but admittedly it's hard to search for. I don't know how much more I can describe it, either. Their icons are now just a blank piece of paper instead of the music icon, and they won't open in any program. In their properties, the filetype is simple 'File'.

4 0 1 1461 is the version I'm on.

Do they have an extension (which should be .mp3)? What form of tagging did you do? Do you have files with xxxx extension in same folder?

I didn't realize it last time but I was finally able to replicate the error and, in this instance I was editing the filename, but forgot to include an extension before confirming the change. How I could have done that to multiple files at once I'm not sure, but I'd wager it's related to that. What an odd thing to happen, becoming a blank, faceless file with no identity whatsoever.

You would be better off using auto organise files (CTRL+R) to change your filenames, that will stop that mistake happening again.

Just add the extension back and the files will work again.
