MM 4.0.3 crashes when Win7 speech recognition active

Postby sansloy » Mon Mar 05, 2012 11:54 am

MM 4.0.3 crashes under W7 Ultimate Edition whenever Microsoft Speech Recognition is actively listening (running but in sleep mode doesn't cause a crash). This happens regardless of any other applications that are running or if MM is the only application.

I installed the debug version but it didn't allow the submission of a bug report; the application terminated completely.

The same activity under Winamp (FWIW) doesn't cause any problems.

To reproduce:

1. Start Speech Recognition and issue "start listening" using the mic.
2. Start MM
OR
Reverse the sequence.

Perhaps I'm missing a setting in MM that precludes the use of the mic...maybe this is a conflict of some sort?

This is the problem summary from Windows:

Problem signature:

Send a debug log (step 4b) to support: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=33 indicates MM4 shouldn't suffer from this.

Thanks for your reply. Here's what I've been able to do:

1. Downloaded MediaMonkey_4.0.3.1476_Debug.exe.
2. Installed over existing product.
3. Note that MediaMonkey_Debug.exe WAS NOT present after installation.
4. Reproduced the error by executing MediaMonkey.exe, again was not asked to send anything (4.a).
5. Uninstalled everything related to MM, then installed just the Debug version.
6. Same results (3 and 4).

I successfully installed and executed DbgView. I also have the report.wer file from the crash. Is that enough for debugging?

I should note that I didn't fully list my environment in initial post:

MB: ASUS P7H55-PRO
CPU: Intel Core i3 530 (Clarkdale)
Memory: 4G (2 x 2G cards, Kingston, PC3-10700)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, SP1

Other: 1 DVD-RW, no MM plug-ins

Thanks

3) It install just like regular MM
4) It may not auto-generate errors. This is why you need to run DBGView while recreating your issue, save the DBGView log, zip it and send it to support as suggested in step 4b.
