AAC Not recognized by iTunes

Postby mleuba » Sat Apr 07, 2012 7:12 am

Hi Music Lovers!

I need help. I have the latest MM4 Gold and the latest iTunes. I store my music in FLAC and want to convert to AAC. I have successfully converted FLAC to mp3 for a year or more to manage my ipod through itunes (more on mm sync on another post).

I am converting the FLAC to AAC (via addon) and the create fine. WMP can play them. iTunes will not recognize them. I went into iTunes and confirmed the AAC import settings, tried different variations etc. I am using a very simple way to test iTunes recognition of the file, the drag and drop import. I can drag and drop an MP3 but none of the AAC variations I have created will be accepted (you get the red X and it when you attempt to drop it...).

Any help greatly appreciated!

You should use the .m4a format instead, it will be recognized by iTunes.

Nohitter,
Thanks for that. I did some reading and the .m4a is a container standard that holds and .aac. The file size is roughly double an mp3, and the audio quality should be noticeably better I'm told. It works!
