Multiple Genre Divider for Ford Sync?

Postby amtphoto » Sat Apr 14, 2012 1:14 am

When I tag MP3s in Media Monkey for more than one genre I use the suggested semicolon to divide them. If, for example, I want to apply "Rock" and "80's" to a song the genre tag would read "Rock; 80's" which seems to work fine for the most part.

However in my Ford Edge, using the Microsoft Sync system, the tagged song will never play when I command "Play Genre Rock" or "Play Genre 80s" because Sync ignores the semicolon altogether and sees the tag as its own unique genre called "Rock 80's".

Does anyone have experience with this aspect of Sync to know how to make it recognize multiple genre tags? Is there a divider other than the semicolon I can use or is there any other trick? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This setting only works when syncing to database driven devices (like iPod's), but doesn't modify the tags of the files.

All of my MP3s are on a flash drive inserted in my vehicle's usb port. So you're saying that there is no way to make the Microsoft Sync system index the flash drive so that it reads a song as belonging to two (or more) seperate genres?

I'm saying there is no way for you to have MediaMonkey remove additional genre's from tags on sync.
