Adding new songs into Media Monkey 4

Postby coolvibe » Fri Apr 20, 2012 3:37 pm

Hello, could not find info in MM Forum or Support files. After I scan new files into MM4, I like to drop all new song files in my New Files added playlist, that is in specific order, then later I distribute these into various other applicable playlists.
In my new files playlist, it has grown to over 700 Mp3 files and growing, How do I get MM to allow me to drop these new files at the Top of my playlist, instead of all the way at bottom?? I have to manually drag all new files to top of this long playlist, which is Very Very Slow in MM, it takes me a few minutes each time, just to drag a few songs to top of playlist, is this a MM Bug or something? Any way to send to top of playlist automatically?

Also, is there anyway to set MM 4 Free version to Automatically Analyze Volumes and Level Playback of all newly added mp3 song files, or is this only possible with MM Gold Version?
Thanks in advance!!!

It will always add to the bottom unless you drag them into the correct place. This could be achieved by dragging into Now Playing, then open Playlist and drag into Playlist in desired position.

Gold features can't be enabled in the free version, but you can manually Analyze Volume on selected files.

Thanks for the response Lowlander, but even when I drag the files, from "Now Playing" into my New song playlist, it still sends them all the way to the bottom of the over 700 songs etc. Are you saying I can select some of my Now Playing files, then drag over into my playlist and drop them somehow at the top or whereever I want to in playlist? Just not working for me, please advise .Thanks!

So very suprised MM 4 does not have this basic feature , to select or highlight a few songs, and then instantly send them to the top of playlist at least, without having to very slowly drag thru all songs in playlist, or at least be able to select a few songs and drag over to another playlist and drop them into either the top or bottom at least, of large playlists? Is this feature in MM Gold at least? Tks!

Yes this is possible. Just drag files to Now Playing window, open Playlist in Filelisting and drag files from Now Playing window to the position you want them in the playlist.

Thanks guys, but still cannot get this to work. I am in the Now playing window, it does say File List in the little search window, but when I select a few songs and try to drag into my Iplaylist under my desired New Songs playlist, my selected playlist does not open and allow me to drop songs anywhere in playlist, it just adds them again, automatically dropping them all the way at the bottom, not sure what I am missing here?
Can you please be specific as possible in steps I need to do , to get selected songs to drop at the very Top of my selected playlist? Thanks

No, you need to open the Playlist in the Media Tree (9) first so all files on the Playlist are shown in the Filelisting (10). Then from the Now Playing Window (11) drag the files to desired location in the Playlist.

Thanks , after following all advise in detail, I open and select my recently added files in Media Tree, then make sure file listing is selected, then play the files to get them to show up Now Playing, then from there I try to drag to my Newly added songs in desired Iplaylist, but MM still just adds them directly into playlist all the way at bottom, so I still have to manually drag these files all the way to top of playlist which takes a few minutes at least everytime, which is so frustating.

I am not sure why this is still not working for me, I think that you guys may be perhaps misunderstanding the simple step I am trying to do here perhaps?

In Itunes or Winamp or most players etc, I can simply select my newly added files, and drag them over to any playlist, which will then open up and easily allow me to drop selected files anywhere I want to: like Top, Middle or bottom of playlists no problem. Just not sure why this simple feature is so complicated in MM, if available at all. If not, Where can I make a feature request for this? Thanks!!!

It works, so no need to ask for a feature that already exists.

Okay cool Lowland, but are U sure you understand what I am trying to do? I have followed your instructions closely, but it only allows me to just add the files same as always, all the way at bottom of my 700 plus song list, where specifically does it allow me to place at "Top" of playlist or anywhere else?
Do U know why MM is so very slow in dragging files up playlist? It is not my PC either, I have plenty of Memory and speed etc. Thks

You are dragging to the playlist name in the tree. You need to open the playlist by left-clicking it first, then drag the tracks from Now Playing to the position in the playlist, NOT to the playlist node in the MM tree.

Not sure what I am missing, but I have tried this instruction several times over and over: (You need to open the playlist by left-clicking it first, then drag the tracks from Now Playing to the position in the playlist, NOT to the playlist node in the MM tree).

MM Still does not allow me, or give access to drop selected files in a specific desired spot in my playlist. Maybe it does not work because my playlists are imported via Iplaylists? Or maybe because the same Recently Added files I am selecting as a test, are already in the New Song playlist , but I do not see why this should matter, if I want to add addtl same files in a playlist.

I have used many MP3 playlist managers, have never had a problem like this, usually can drag and drop any selected Mp3s, especially if already in the library, to any spot in any other playlist in library in 1 simple step. Just don't know why MM has to make many simple tasks like this among others much more difficult, or require so many steps to do simple tasks. Thanks Guys!

I told you it was user error and not a missing feature.
