"Type" Property Query

Post by simonbrads »

Quick (I suspect) question. I've just starting using MM to manage my audio books (as well as my music). When adding new files to MM, how does MM assign the "Type" property (Music, Classical Music, Audiobook, etc.)?

It seems to get most classical music typed correctly, though I don't know how. Does it imply the type from the genre? What if I used a genre of, e.g., "Modern" (omitting "Classical")?

I ask because my audio books get categorized as (plain) music. AFAIK, the "Type" property is not stored in the file's metadata. Correct?

A related question, that may help, depending on the answers to the above: Can I add a tree node collection criterion along the lines of "Location starts with S:"?

Thanks,
Simon

Just type Book as the genere and they will all be listed from that when you look for them under genere to make lists, thats how i do it. Well you could use vocal instead of book.

Type is an internal MediaMonkey field (used to determine how to sort files along the default Collections), and the mechanism used to determine which Type is assigned can't be changed by the user. The following explains how it is assigned (only gets assigned on first scan into Library): http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0
