Playing music directly from my Creative Vision:M using MM

Post by David »

Hi,

I recently bought a Creative Vision:M that I use everywhere for listening to music i.e in the car at work etc.

The idea is that I connect the device to my computer in work but I don't want to synchronize all my media. I just want to be able to play it through the computer using MediaMonkey.

MediaMonkey recognises the Vision:M but when I select play it does nothing. I am curious if anyone else has this problem ?

Play music from Device

This is a limitation of the device and the MTP protocol (i.e. try playing tracks off this device with any other application using MTP and you'll see the same result).

Thanks for the reply Rusty..

Just for information I can play music from the device using the Creative Media player provided with the player. It is a pity that the device has these limitations enforced.

But having second thoughts about the whole thing as I am not to sure if it is a good idea to have the player constantly docked and on. It is plugged in for at least 8 to 10 hours a day 5 days a week. Maybe I should synch the device with my PC at work :-)

Playing from the device

I may end up with egg on my face, but I'm pretty sure that this can't be accomplished through MTP (try doing this with Windows Media Player--I'm pretty sure it won't let you).

Hi Rusty,

You are completely correct it is not possible to do using MTP. I was just saying that it is possible for me to play from the device using the creative media player provided with player - which is of course completely normal as they have written their own libraries to do so.

I just would prefer not to have to use the creative media s/w but have no choice for the moment. Thanks again for your reponse 8)

take care,
David
