Plz install latest MM beta since it supports turning AutoDJ off from inside scripting. Thats why you have this error. Thanks for your report.

winamp as player

Postby godsryche » Tue Mar 07, 2006 10:27 am

This will not work if you use winamp as your player, right? Would there be any way to make it work?

Supporting winamp is a LOT of work and i can assure you that ScrobblerDJ will never support it.
Integrated MM player is better IMO so there is no reason to support winamp

Psy I have a very minor feature idea... on the code:

Code: Select all
      LineText = "Scrobbler DJ: Could not locate artist on Last.FM :-( .... ScrobblerDJ added a track from the default playlist"

it would be nicer if it actually said what artist it could not find...

In fact by simply modifing the 'success' text, I used:

Code: Select all
      LineText = "Scrobbler DJ: Could not locate <" & SDB.Player.CurrentSong.ArtistName & "'s> recommendations on Last.FM :-( .... ScrobblerDJ added a track from the default playlist"

seems to work ok for me.

edit:

Also, an (html) error log of artists that could not be located on fm, along with the relevant url would be swell...

For example, Korn shows up as KoЯn and scrobbler dj can't find any matching similar artists/top tracks.

Also seem's to have a problem with Johnny Cash even tho I can pull up the xml @ http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/artist ... imilar.xml

edit 2: actually I increased the time out and it successfully pulled Johnny Cash's recommended artists.

OK - installed ScrobberDJ with RC2 of MM - don't see how to enable the ScrobblerDJ user interface - nothing in MM appears to be different. Is there something I need to do to see ScrobblerDJ?

Thanks.

All righty - so I've found the ScrobblerDJ button on the top toolbar (what the heck is that image anyways?) and it appears to work by polling Last.FM when I reach the last song in my play list. However, there doesn't appear to be any type of "configuration" screen for ScrobblerDJ - is this correct? That is, it's either on or off - that's about it?

Thanks.

And I found the options as well in a previous post - sorry for the multiple posts to the thread...

Options Dialog
No more ScrobblerDJ.vbs editing. Peke had made an option sheet Under Tools>Options>Player>SrcobblerDJ !!COOL!!!

One suggestion - post ScrobblerDJ setup/config FAQ somewhere so that one doesn't have to wade through a news group for how to install and configure?

Thanks.

josepk,
Image is Audioscrobbler Sign "AS" and MM icon in front of it with Two states ON and OFF.

FAQ and info after installing would be great, we will think about it as soon as we make it stable enough.

last.fm down... scrobbler DJ times out and gives pop up dialogs..

request time out (OK) which must be pressed before anything else can continue..

Wouldn't it best to simply show the error in the status line and load a song from the default playlist instead of stopping play and presenting an annoying dialog?

edit:
I commented out the following error code:

Code: Select all
'       Script.UnregisterAllEvents
'       SDB.MessageBox "Request Timed Out", mtError, Array(mbOK)
'       TerminateMe

and added:

Code: Select all
      LineText = "Scrobbler DJ: Could not access Last.FM, check network connectivity or Last.FM web page status :-( .... ScrobblerDJ will add a track from the default playlist"
      Line.text = LineText
      TimerLoop = 0

and it seems to work fine. The script continues to run, then can't find the results and plays from the default playlist.

I see last.FM down a lot these days.

@Teknojnky,
Good point I'm adding Settings so that user can chose behavior.
