Synch only selected/checked tracks with iPod

Post by dcm693 »

I did a search of the forum but couldn't find the answer.

In iTunes (which I'd like to ditch), you have the option of synching your entire library, but constraining that to only tracks that have been checked. Is there a similar feature in MM? Thanks.

I tried to investigate a bit further, but still finding no answer. When I go to configure sync options, I can constrain the sync to certain albums, artists and playlists, but I can't do it by any other criteria.

I thought about creating a custom column or classification and using that as criteria, but I can't use that in the synch options.

Why would I want to do this? My library is bigger than my iPod. I don't want every song from a CD being sync'd, for example.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you using the GOLD version? It has a more advanced auto-playlist capability that includes selecting on the custom field (if you like).

I have 60GB of music and a 4GB nano, I use auto-playlists to define what I want to put on the nano.

Thanks for the reply. I am not using the Gold version (I'm holding off on buying until I'm sure MM will suit me). However, your suggestion pointed me in the right direction to a solution.

If I create use a custom field to tag the tracks I'd like to sync, then I can create an AutoPlaylist based on the custom field. I can then specify that only tracks in that AutoPlaylist get synched. I haven't yet synched my iPod, but I might get to try tonight.
