Art View album tracks
Hi all
I've been a life-long fan of Mediamonkey since it started and won't use anything else (I rejoice still, for the day I took iTunes off my PC!!!). I love it in just about every way. But... (you knew that was coming)... I love to view my albums in 'Art View' (just the album artwork showing). When you hover over the album a popup shows you the list of tracks on that album. But, you can't click on them!!! To play a specific track from an album, from the art view, you have to either drag the album into the Now Playing panel or navigate to the album separately (I use 'Find more from same...'). This is very annoying and stops me using this view very often.
Wouldn't it be great if, when clicking on an album in art view, the tracks appeared in a panel, to select what track(s) you wanted to play. I think the best way would be to have the Now Playing panel with two tabs (like the album art 'Now Playing and 'Selected'): One with 'Now Playing' and the other with 'Selected'. This would make the Art view much more usable.
I'm interested in other people's opinions. Maybe there is already a way of doing this, but I haven't found it. Or maybe someone has a more elegant solution than the one's I've outlined here.

Re: Art View album tracks
I've proposed a long time ago that it would open up the selected Album in the Art with Details view so you can see the individual files and edit/play them.

Re: Art View album tracks
I completely agree! This is the one thing that has been troubling me since I started using MM, and it seems like such an obvious thing too. At the moment the only way to select individual tracks, while scrolling through the albums on the 'show art' view, seems to involve switching between the different views (with and without details), which is laborious, awkward and counter-intuitive.
While in 'show art' view, double clicking on an album cover should open up the album folder (somewhere) and give you all the songs, from which you can then select the ones you want to add to the now playing list. This must be very easy to do; I'm still amazed this hasn't happened!

+1 from me too. That's very un-intuitive to only allow you to play entire albums in Art View. If we want to play the whole album, we'd probably double click on the album on the left in details view or right click and choose "Play Album" or something along those lines. Love MediaMonkey, but this is one thing that needs to be fixed.
Re: Art View album tracks
Time to revive this idea!
For me, this is the only thing keeping MediaMonkey from being "perfect." With a big library, this would really help to browse for music. If you already know what you want to listen to, MediaMonkey is great for finding it, but I would love to quickly browse through the pretty album art and queue up a few songs to listen to. MediaMonkey is the best for organizing music, but the lack of this feature keeps me gravitating toward other players for listening.

The workaround is to use the Art Browser to navigate the Album Art and then if you select one it shows the individual tracks in the Filelisting.

Damn right! Honestly, how hard can it be? Only thing that makes me rethink MM being the perfect player and organizer!Sculman wrote:Time to revive this idea!

Re: Art View album tracks
This seriously needs an update and fix. Also, when viewing Art Browser mode, you can't click in the art area and type an artists name to go to it, you have to use the media tree to navigate (or plough manually through hundreds or even thousands of albums). That really sucks.
Re: Art View album tracks
Reviving this thread to find out if anything has been done to address this "issue". Searched, but cannot find an answer.
So, has anything been done to fix it? It seems so simple, and every other music player I've used has this capability. Musicbee, WMP, Sony MediaGo, Itunes and others all have the ability to do this.......and they are all FREE. Why can't this non-free program do this?
