looking for a song's preformer.

Post by rovingcowboy »

I've been trying to find out who did a song I'm not sure if it was Dicky Goodman or his son Jon Goodman.
But if dicky was the one who did it then it has to be his last one.
Because Dicky Goodman died in 1989.
Whoever is doing the album on amazon called ( election 2008 by dicky goodman ) isn't dicky goodman.
Unless it's jon or his brother using their dads name.

But the song I'm wondering about was done in 1989 about the attitude leading up to the gulf war " desert storm ".
I'm not able to find it anywhere online but it's dicky goodmans breakin style and is not a sloppy song mix the quality is equal to dicky's known songs.
I am in the Dallas TX area and the only way I've got this song is from a tape of songs recorded off a radio station back in 1989.
But they didn't say the artists name and I'm starting to think it was only on this areas radio it was played.
For you that don't know what a breakin song is.
They are comedy songs made up of one liners from popular artists songs used to answer an reporter's comment, the reporter was the person doing the song.
If you ever heard the biggest hit of goodmans "mr. jaws" you would know instantly what the style is.
This song I've got as far as I know is called "desert storm" but I can't even find the radio station it was on I didn't record their call sign.
I'm hoping that one of you heard it back then too and remember the artists name. 8)

That's the same title I came up with. But it says 1991 wasn't the war in 1989? I know I heard it doing the war maybe he didn't release the song for a few years? Only let radio have it? Sure would like to hear this one but they don't have a preview of it or this cell phone won't play it.

Thank you for the first time I've seen the song mentioned online I will have to try to hear it on the pc.

What about this: https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q= ... tyx+(1991)

From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Show_Me_t ... Styx_song))
"Show Me the Way" is a song written by Dennis DeYoung. It is the second single released from Edge of the Century by Styx, peaking at #3 on the pop singles chart in 1991. It is, to date, Styx's 8th and last Top 10 Billboard single.

Lead vocalist/keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, a devout Roman Catholic, originally wrote the song for his son Matthew as a pseudo-hymn about the struggle to keep the faith in a "world so filled with hatred". Released in December 1990, the song was slowly scaling the charts. In January 1991, just prior to the United States' entry into the Gulf War, Music Director Chris Taylor from WAVA-FM in Washington, D.C. and Knoxville DJ Ray Edwards from WOKI-FM each did their own customized "Desert Shield Mix" incorporating television and call-in comments from officials, soldiers and callers as well as C-SPAN's coverage of the House and Senate debates.
A little more digging found this in a comments section somewhere:
Music Director Chris Taylor from radio station WAVA-FM in Washington, D.C. remixed the "Desert Shield Mix" (also known as the "Desert Storm Mix"). A&M Records then made it available to radio stations who wanted to play it. That particular version's never been commercially available.
