Exit MM and Playing Now

I know MM saves its Playing Now playlist when closing the program.
This is not working as I would expect it:
When the windows shutdown process sends the exit command, it NEVER saves.
Since I know this behaviour, I try to exit MM myself from time to time. Unfortunately this also does only work like half of the time, even I wait several minutes before shuting down the computer.

I don't use any plugins I would expect to interfere here, I only use a couple tagging-plugins and a skin.
