"preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan) [#15831]
Is it a bug or a feature that after each reboot of my smartphone MMA scans the whole library? I guess so according to the sticky "preparing" notification and the eternal rotating circle in the app.

This occurs for me as well. I dont remember it happening before, not sure with what version it started.

Hi,
Preparing notification on reboot is system checked for errors on SDcards. Try to Insert temporary Empty SDcard and see if it scan. I never found out why sometimes finishes <1s and sometimes takes >1m

For me the process is taking ~90 minutes and needs at least 8% of the battery with a 200GB SD card.
When I use an empty 4GB SD card the process takes 2 minutes.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Android 8.0.0 MMA 1.3.4.0851

Hi,
That is strange it should not do that for so long. Have you tried to Format SDCard on S7?
Also do you see same prompt after you restart phone without SD card inserted?

Re: "preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan)
I do not want to format the sd card as I obviously had to retransfer all files.
A restart of the phone with no sd card inserted shows "scanning folders" or something like that for very few minutes.
I sent log C2PITS1C52 after notification went away.
I will send a log after reboot with sd card inserted tomorrow.
I have a second S7 with a different card which syncs with the same MMW installation that does not show this behaviour.

This just confirms that issue is more like device specific not general issue. Will see what our Log analyze shows.drunknmonkey wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 4:57 pm I have a second S7 with a different card which syncs with the same MMW installation that does not show this behavior.

@Peke: Have you found time to look into my Log already?
Re: "preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan)
Hi,
Yes as like in the past Google scanner is preparing SDCard not MMW which sits and waits till system Service is done.

Re: "preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan)
Ok, now I understand. MMA is waiting for the "Android-scan-task" to complete and shows the notification for that period of time.
Thanks for your investigations...

Hi,
Correct. As already explained it is a bit strange that scans lasts that long. If you have any new findings observation we are not going anywhere.

Re: "preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan)
I'm also getting this with a 256gb card after each reboot. The notification says "Mediamonkey, Background task, Scanning folders to the library" and stays there for at least 40 minutes.
Re: "preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan)
Hi,
How Many tracks do you have on that card?
For example if you have 10k of tracks and each track is scanned for 0.5 seconds it would roughly take hour and a half to go thru all tracks.

Re: "preparing" notification after each reboot (library scan)
Well för me that takes about 12 hours and more!
On SD Card with 200GB capacity there are more than 30.000 mp3. During rescanning Sync with the Database is impossible! On my second device Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 it takes even more than 2 days for the same database. And when rescanning is finished the sync always crashed! Since version 1.3.4.0854 nothings works anymore as well!
