Another MusicMatch convert here.

I'd been using MMJB for years, and had noticed that my update times were getting slower and slower as I continued to rip songs from my 1200 CD collection. When I finished (with a total of 15,507 songs), I was so disgusted by MMJB's speed that I went shopping around for a new music organizer. It didn't take me long to find MediaMonkey, and I was so impressed with it that I bought a lifetime license less than 24 hours after first using it. With MediaMonkey, I found and fixed all of my mis-tagged, badly synchronized and album-coverless songs over a four hour period. This would have taken me WEEKS with other programs!

Being a programmer, I especially love the ability to write your own VB scripts. I'll be using THAT feature a lot. I also love being able to use the Winamp Ozone plug-in to improve audio quality. MediaMonkey now sounds better than MMJB ever did.

Massive, MASSIVE kudos to the developers for a GREAT product!

this sounds promising. i've had media monkey but haven't used it a whole lot. i'm going to try it out for a few months and see how it works, especially with syncing my zen vision m. i plan on buying the lifetime if it works out well. looks like a good community and i look forward to my time here.

I boycotted MusicMatch about a year ago. For many of the same reasons mentioned above. Slowness, Painfull file renaming and tagging. Its inability to have my collection. 30,000+ MP3's and growing

But the real kicker, was when I was trying to supertag and file rename my files (Im anal retentive and wanted all my files named the same way) when I got message telling me that my super tagging had expired. I was POed. I didnt pay for a subscription I paid for the Freaking program. So being angry I searched for other apps that might do some of the super tagging features and came across MM.

It handles my collection perfefectly, and I have renamed all my files the way I wanted in 100 X faster than I could have in Musicmatch. Plus I was able to make the dB global on my network and import its data into a SQL db that I play to write a website around someday.

I love MM.... Keep up the good work

There are already 2 websites for MediaMonkey based on the database and there is another static website project. Check out the WebMonkey project I have written myself. The website also contains a link to another project.

I wasnt going to write a way to manage or listen to the music (Maybe but not in the original plan).

Just a page so my friends could look at my list, search and for me to improve my programming skills on my own (Im a web developer for UPS).

Its cool to see other sites out there though

WebMonkey has many options. The player is an option, but you can run WebMonkey as a pure information website without any of the other functionality (the way I run it).

Of course you can create your own website/code and I hope you will share it with the MediaMonkey community. I advice that you check out the scripts forum as you can also develop scripts to add functionality to MediaMonkey. Enjoy!

packaged software looked good but couldn't get my head around it, visited a forum for the Zen collection who pointed me this away.....

so simplier to use, more versatile, customizable & clearer

Not totally convinced yet, but since MM intergrates with Winamp, I like it, Mainly why I downloaded MM is because of the send to command, I have a ton of tracks I have not listened to yet, and when I do and the track is corrupt, or just don't like the woman trying to sing, I can delete the track and it will be gone for ever. Nice work MMstaff!
I am sure there will be more stuff I will have to talk about in the future as I get to working with MM.

MediaMonkey is simply AWESOME. I love the album art tagging tools, and the ease of batch renaming - I purchased a lifetime license this year, and tell everyone about it. IT ROCKS.

...though I am looking forward to some new features that will allow me to ditch EAC for CD ripping...

Just wanted to let you guys know you are doing a great job on this program and that it handles my 13,000 tracks with ease, so far this is the best program i have found that will read that much music off my server in my house, at the speed it does. i have everything wired for Gig-E and my laptop is my main machine these days, so the ablility to convert all my Flac files on-the-fly as they transferred to my modified Zen Xtra, which now has a 120GB HDD

Let's see, I've been using MediaMonkey (formerly SongsDB) since July 2003 after trying MusicMatch and Moodlogic. I'm a lot less active on the forums lately. Probably because I now have three kids , but also because MediaMonkey manages my 7200 MP3s effortlessly.

i agree wholeheartedly...i have been using mm for a few years (at least) and it works so well i have never even been to the forums until today

mediamonkey is absolutely the best player i have ever used...keep up the great work developers!

pyrotherm, how did you modify your Zen Xtra? i've had two zen xtras, both of which have had headphone failures in that the sound deadens on one channel and then finally goes out on the other. ever heard of this happening? i'd like to fix mine (maybe i'll hit up radio shack) but i'm pretty lazy, haha

also, would media monkey be a good program to use for managing 100,000+ songs? i generally just choose albums from my collection and play them individually in winamp. i've never done the "create a playlist" thing before.

I use it with 45k+ (almost 300 gig) songs and growing and its working great for me.

Not sure if/what the maximum theoretical limit is, but most likely it would be an MS Acess limit than something in MM itself.

I also believe that the devs had commented that future versions, not sure if was referring to 2.6 or something later, might be using a different database solution.

With 26,000+ mp3 all media player sucks when it come to search it is like they pause and act like they are crashing. Stop responeing for a bit until search is over for artist.

Some one told me to try MM and I was like yea another player what's so special? I am suprise at it bam there it is search!

How do you all do that? I tried Itunes. WMP, Winamp and they all take for ever to search and lockup while doing it!

This is the reason I switch and plan to keep useing MM.
