Error: problem querying the database...

Post by Kexi »

when i open mediamonkey (while the splash screen is still on the screen) it gives me a box saying...

There was a problem querying the database:
42000:[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Unknown
Cancel Retry Ignore

Retry brings the same box up over and over
Ignore brings the same box up over and over
Cancle launch the program but brings up a new box saying

Access Violation at address 0055AD65 in module 'Mediamonkey.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

everytime you click ok on this box it just keeps coming up over and over, can't get rid of it.

I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling and it does the same thing, I have uninstalled and deleted the folder from program fiels and it still did the same thing after install.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kexi

database problem

Post by rusty »

Kexi,

My guess is that you installed or uninstalled some other application that messed with your MS Data Access components.

Hopefully you can fix this by following the steps described in section 3c) of the readme: http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/readme.txt

Data Access problems

Post by rusty »

Could you please send me the following information?

1) Please run the version checker tool that is posted to: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=301202#2 and save the results.

2) Please run the sysinfo utility (Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Information). Click Action | All Tasks | Save as System Information File (this will take several minutes.

This information would hopefully help get to the bottom of this issue.

I've got the .xml from cc.exe and the .nfo from the system information tool, what do you want me to do with these?

Try to read readme file and (re-)install MDAC and MS Jet. In case it still doesn't work well for you then, please download the debug version and e-mail me a debug log (as described in bugs forum).

You can find that information in the readme.
