Now I am good until my replacement drive arrives, then I get the fun of moving 254 gbs back to the drive. :( Some days I really hate computers....

Great script! Thanks for your hard work.

I have one issue with it. The external art is not being copied over to the backup directory. I have made sure that the art is there in the directory with the tracks being backed up. Is a specific naming scheme needed for the art?

Thanks,
The art is taken from the properties --> Album Art panel so no naming convention is required.
However the art does need to be in the same directory as the track.

Art is not automatic you need to tick the checkbox

Hmm I just had a quick look at the code and if you have already done a backup without art then subsequent backups with art won't be copied unless the track has changed again :(

The check for missing backup files should include missing art but it doesn't atm :(

Have a look at the log and see if any art has been backed up at all
Check the properties --> album art of tracks that should have art backed up and mouse over the art make sure the path is in the same directory as the track.

Until I release a version that will check for missing art as well the only way to get them backed up (if you did a backup without art first) is to uninstall the script, make sure you answer yes to removing settings) and reinstall the script and run it with art checked the first time :(

I've tried your suggestion of uninstalling(including settings) and then reinstalling. Still no joy.

I have made sure that the jpg IS in the same folder as the track. I've also checked the tags and the artwork is both embedded and linked to the jpg in the same folder. Lastly, I've insured that the checkbox is ticked that says to include externl art.

For some reason it doesn't seem to want to copy over. As I embed the artwork in all my files, this is not a major issue and I still love the script. I finally have a comprehensive way to back up my files to an external drive. As a side note I image that drive to a second external for a redundant backup.

Thanks again for this nice tool.

Sorry about that I just did a 1 track test and no external art backup :(

I don't have external art so I haven't noticed it before, at some version I may have broken it. :(

Will look closer later on the weekend

New Version

' 11-10-08 Version 2.5
' Check for missing Art when check for missing backups checked
' Fixed typo on flag for backup art

I haven't fixed the issue where if backup art isn't initially checked subsequent bckups wont backup the art unless the track(s) has changed :(
It's a little bigger than a quick fix :(

I'm not sure when the typo got in there so if you do use external art you might want to do some spot checks.

Atm the only way to fix it is uninstall the script and click yes to remove settings and reinstall (which will force a total backup) :(

New update works just fine. I'll run the full backup overnight after uninstalling/reinstalling to test further.

F.Y.I.
On Line 314 the caption still reads "externl" and should be "external"

Thanks again. Very useful script for me!

New item has showed up in using this script...it goes like this.

I had a previously backed up track that I adjusted the case on (from MR. to Mr. in the name) and then used auto-organized to save the changed file name with the new case.

When I did, this track showed up in the "Tracks Missing/Moved From Backup" Node. I checked in file explorer and the track was still there in the backup with the OLD case (MR.). I ran the backup script and what to my surprise it DELETED the old backup track and did NOT copy the new changed track over to the backup directory. I tried running the backup script several times and it just wouldn't copy over but remained in the "Missing Node".

I copied the track with the new case over to the backup directory manually with file explorer and it then disappeared from the "Missing" node and all was well.

This is a little strange
Could you please check the log file (where it initially got deleted) and see if there are 2 entries 1 to add, 1 to delete.
I'm a little concerned that windows did not recognise the case change

Second if you check/tick Check for missing tracks from backup ..... blah it should fix those tracks showing up in the node.
(You can test it by cutting the track you manually copied over and run the backup on it)

Here is the log entry for another one I just changed. I ran the backup with the "Check For Missing..." option checked.

Action Original Path/Name Original Identifier To Backup Path/Name Backup Identifier
Copied E:\Music\V\Van Morrison - 2008 - Still On Top - The Greatest Hits (Disc 3)\01 - Hey Mr. DJ.mp3 To L:\MusicBackup\Music\V\Van Morrison - 2008 - Still On Top - The Greatest Hits (Disc 3)\01 - Hey Mr. DJ.mp3
Deleted L:\MusicBackup\Music\V\Van Morrison - 2008 - Still On Top - The Greatest Hits (Disc 3)\01 - Hey MR. DJ.mp3

It copied the file (I assume overwriting the one that was there from the previous backup) and then deleted that same track (ignoring the case). <--this is the problem?

I then ran the backup again on the same track (with "Check For Missing..." checked) and this is the log.

Action Original Path/Name Original Identifier To Backup Path/Name Backup Identifier
Missing Backup File E:\Music\V\Van Morrison - 2008 - Still On Top - The Greatest Hits (Disc 3)\01 - Hey Mr. DJ.mp3 To L:\MusicBackup\Music\V\Van Morrison - 2008 - Still On Top - The Greatest Hits (Disc 3)\01 - Hey Mr. DJ.mp3

If I delete the track from the backup directory the script does catch it in the "Missing" node and copies the track over as expected.

I hope that explanation was clear.

Edit: I am sure that the instance I was referring to in my previous post, that I did NOT have the "Check For Missing..." option checked.
