Yes, I'd like a small player like that.

But I like a dark skin, like BlueGlass or WMP11 (or Glided, if I can get rid of the huge player).

Is it possible to change the player and keep the rest of a skin?

Morten, will your "Standalone" ("separated from the main-window") stay floating on top of the MM window, without being docked? Or is it separately adressable from the menu line?

The standard Blue Glass player is resizeable, but it won't get smaller than 640 pixles. I want a player 200-300 pixles wide.

Yeah that Aqua4 is more like it ! I'm in agreement with the above also, nice if there could be a darker version also !

If the "Player" at the bottom of the Now Playing panel had a Volume button, I might not need the player at all...

MM3 is better than MM2 in everything - except that huge standard player.

I'd be willing to convert an old MM2.5 skin to be compatible with MM3. What skin would you guys like to see?

I personally like the black and red skin.

this can be done but the small skins are locked in that size and they are not as of beta 4 able to be used by the mm 3 program yet. 8)

Guest, thats why I said I would convert one. I still don't know which one is the most popular, so I haven't begun anything yet.

Do you have to convert an old MM2 skin? Couldn't you just make a version with a small player of one of the existing MM3 skins (BlueGlass, WMP11 or Glided)?

Well that would involve editing someone else's skin, which I wouldn't really want to do. Plus, it'd be much more work to recode their player than to just pretty much copy over what's already been done. (I = lazy  )

You could take one of the old players and incorporate it into a MM3 skin, but again you'd be messing with someone else's work and I'd rather not do that.

What about making a an alternative skin based on your own Zune skin, but with a small player? So you won't have to edit other people's work.

If I can not have a black (WMP11-style) skin with a small player, I suggest you modify Brushed Monkey (iTunes style).

I suppose that is the most popular MM2-skin.

OK So here is the result of my experiment today with making a skin version without the huge player:

Image

Is the player small enough? :) :)

I simply replaced the original player with the microplayer in the BlueGlass skin.

It seems to work for me (until a "real" small player is published....), may be for someone else???

EDIT: This is an alternative where I use the Glided microplayer with WMP11 skin. This microplayer has wrong colours (can somebody paint it black with a shiny blue start button (WMP11 style)??) but it is not that tiny and seems better suited for my needs.

Another attempt, with the Aqua player (Thank you Peke/MarineBrat) in the BlueGlass skin.

OK the colour of the player it totally wrong. But it works!

(I have not started recolouring the items. I guess an experienced skinner would do that in a minute.....)

Image

EDIT Nov 17: OK I recoloured the player:
Image
There are white corners around the buttons, though. They may be a part of the button design, not the main player. (They are not there on my player bmp.)
I have not started reworking the buttons. Now only the black centre is click sensitive....

Edit Nov 18: Got rid of the white corners. Starting to figure ut what skinning is about :)

I agree that we need a smaller player. All I really need is play/pause, stop, next, previous, and some way to tell how far along I am in a song (time countdown, bar, whatever). thanks for the skins!!!

MM3 Skin without Long Player

The skins are looking very nice. Is there any way to download them yet? I agree that the only thing missing from MM3 is a skin without the long player. Thanks.

Since my screenshots are just modified old skins, I have not made a download package.

If you want my black version of Peke's Aqua player, send me a PM with your e-mail adress.

If you want to use the Glided micro-player as the main player in your favourite MM3 skin, just unzip the skins files ( .msz) to new folders in the MediaMonkey/Skins directory. Then replace player.mskn and player.ini of your favourite with microplayer.mskn and microplayer ini from Glided. (Remember to rename them!)

Good luck!
