In fact, if iTunes ever gets that feature (god knows why they don't!!!), I can't say I wouldn't, at least consider, moving back.

Also, can you not use MM, or one of the many other progs out there, to tag your songs when you rip hem from cd, or even vinyl? I haven't done much ripping in MM but I was sure it detects the CD info and looks up track information from a database automatically. Or at least you could us "tag from Amazon" on the new tracks in your "recently added" playlist.

Also for me, volume analyser run automatically on un-normalised songs as soon as they are added. I have startup scan turned off (like everyone, got sick of delays at startup) but folder monitoring turned on so it scans and vol analyses anything new added - best of both worlds (when it works! ).
yes there are scripts for looking up ablum art and monkey will check the free online data for cdroms. but i don't trust online info for cdroms i seen before that the cddb had people type in what was on their home made cdroms and give them the same name as a store bought cdrom. so i type up mine right from the case as i put it in. sure they might have fixed the messed up online db's but i don't mind the typing. 8)

since you made this post and wanted it sperated. i know you posted in the other one looking for the OP but its OP was just a guest and never was joined up as a member so they might not have fixed it and might have left mediamonkey.

but i 'm thinking i ony seen you say your on xp pro. did you ever get the xp sp3 update, there were many bug fixes for windows in that. it had enough bug fixes that the update is over 333 mb's in size. one of them has to be an sql update, also windows / micorsoft seems to only show you updates you need if you got the one before it. so missing one update will make you miss later ones that might fix errors in windows.

still after saying that i have been reading the posts more and it seems like what lowlander is saying. a bug with multiple codes running at once in the auto organizer montior feature.
unless you are not sync'in your song tags before you put the folder in the monitored folder? if you are not sync'ing the tags monkey will scatter the songs because he uses the tag info to move them. by that i mean after you put the songs in monkey's database. make sure the songs info is correct in the list view area.
then select all the songs. go to the tools menu click on advance tag management then click on sync database.
that will sync the data monkey has for each song you selected to that song's tags.
making sure monkey will use the data in his database.
if you use any <artist> markers in your path then that is the tag info used. so it needs to be sync'ed, just words between slash marks \my music\ is the name of folders in the path that you wanted to be named that way.
most the others i've seen in the forum with messed up paths was cause of not syncing the tags. :)

Thanks rovingcowboy, though I do have SP3 installed and my problem tracks don't show up as being unsynchonised. I did a little more testing and was able to alter the number of tracks which are added incorrectly by disabling some options, which (I'm guessing) meant more songs were able to be processed before being mucked around with. Turning off folder monitoring solved the problem entirely - though kinda defeats the purpose.

Anyway, I did a full uninstall and reinstall of MM and the problem so far seems to have been resolved, touch wood. So maybe something just got corrupted in my install. :-?

I guess I should have done this long ago but with all the time I've spent tagging and rating songs I treat MM like a crystal vase - I don't touch it unless it's an absolute last resort!

Thanks again for all the help guys. I'm sure this will crop up again with other users, but hopefully not often enough to be a priority bug.
