I know this is an old thread but this feature to create a list of Artists, etc in the sync would be very useful especially if you have a lot of Various Artist compilations in the collection. So I would request an additional distinction between Artist & Album Artist.
I suspect that many users will sync a playlist as a subset of their full collection for use on a smaller device.
BTW, this ticket has been open three years http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8254 so people are still interested!
