Hi Owyn, Thanks for the quick reply.
For some reason, I noticed that an error pops up if there is a special character to the file name/title etc.. Can anyone else confirm this? or is it just me?..
the error message says this:

error #5-Microsoft VBScript runtime error
invalid procedure call or argument
file:"z\mediamonkey\scripts\auto\lyrcator.vbs", line 296, column1

Are you using the latest version?
That error should have been fixed by the new code in this thread.

Lyricator 1.0.3 Build 8
- Remove context menu items for Lyricator

The merged code caused more problems than it fixed.
Use the Right Click For Scripts script to provide this function.

PS: Still working on fix to duplicated lyrics problem. I have one user log showing the problem but have not been able to reproduce it yet. Released build 8 to fix the only known reproducible problem.

I can't get this to work unless I run MM as administrator. I uninstalled the previous version, removed all traces of it in program files and the virtualstore, installed this version and still can't get it to work. Maybe I have to reinstall right click for scripts?

I had to exit & restart MM after installing new version. Otherwise, no problems.

However, I do cheat, I have UAC disabled.

I would too except that I ran into a problem with some programs not running right. Maybe I'll try it again and see what happens. :)

Hi Owyn,

That update works like a charm! I can have it scan my whole collection now without having to worry if there is a foreign character somewhere. :)
Definitely a must have plugin for MM that I didnt know I needed before. Thanks! Scanned really quick. :)

Thanks Owyn.

The problems that I reported here are now fixed with this version. :)

Lyricator 1.0.4 Build 11
- Added low level debug trace. Off by default.
- New "Update" log item to help trace "duplicate" lyrics.
- Added track index to search screen.

Starting to suspect that the duplicate bug only appears for Windows with other than US/UK English localization.

Moving this PM exchange to forum for follow up.

Hi:
Noticed that you had reported the duplicate lyric problems with the old version of the script.

Are you still having that problem with the updated script?

If so, what version of Windows are you using. In particular, is it a localized version?

Thanks
molnium wrote:i have a strange addition to add here:
for me the script (version 0.9.6b) seems to work fine (only when logged in as administrator) - but then i realized that all lyrics written in the different files where the same - those from the first selected track!
Thats strange! it displays the correct lyrics in the preview window (where you can see the progress), but it always writes the lyrics of the first track into all selected files....
I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Script, but this doesnt change anything.

greetings

##edit
oops, sorry to reiterate on this problem! :)
nevertheless i tried the suggested solution (uninstall, delete file (it wasnt there), reinstall) but it's still the same :) (i am doing everything as administrator)...
molnium wrote:Hello,

many thanks for asking! I just downloaded (v 1.0.4.011) and checked the script how it works, and..... it seems the problem still persists.
This means that it writes the lyrics of the first track to all selected tracks, "overwriting" the previously displayed lyrics seen in the preview window.

Indeed i am using a localized version of windows xp with sp3, in german.

By the way: since i am a kind of paranoid regarding my music collection, Mediamonkey runs under a user having guest rights. If i try to run the lyricator script, i get:
Error #70: runtime error in Microsoft VBScript
Erlaubnis verweigert (= permission denied)
File: "...Lyricator.vbs" line 162, Column 2
other scripts like genrefinder do work.

i hope this does help :)

greetings
Owyn wrote:Thank You,
We are now 3 for 3 on this error only showing up for localized systems.

Gives me something specific to look at.
Looking into the error at 162. :)

The error occurs when trying to delete the Lyricator.log file.
Does the error re-occur after exit and restart of MediaMonkey?

Hello,
yes, this error also happens on my machine:
* after restart of mediamonkey, also after logout and re-login into the account on XP and then running Mediamonkey
* after deleting all temp files in the temp directory.

The log file is %App%\Scripts\Lyricator\Lyricator.log where %App% is probably "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey" on your system.

Strange, you have the rights to create the log file (and the temp.html file in the same directory) but not the rights to delete it. :o
