I don't know if I am getting the errors because the Custom Properties, Lyrics Viewer or Monkey Rok scripts change with the tracks. Or because ARA is trying to rate the track while one or all of them are moving on to the next track. But I am content to turn ARA off while listening and just turn it back on overnight to catchup while no tracks are playing. But since I didn't encounter this problem with 2.2, I'm thinking it must have something to do with the queries that MCN are running that are auto-updating. But I've also been experimenting with the LastFM script but I think I am going to uninstall that one because I keep getting a database locked error while trying to use Trixmoto's Backup script during use, but that is another problem.... As you stated because I use so many scripts, troubleshooting to find the culprit is a PITA.

Et voilà, there's a new version with some bigfixes.

Changes since 2.3.3
-Added: Option to disable automatic AutoRating on trackproperties-change.
-Fixed: Possible SQL-problems.
-Fixed: Minimized redundant work. (Thanks MoDementia)

The new option is available in the option sheet and enabled by default. If you disable it, the script won't update ratings automatically anymore but only if you click on the AutoRateAccurate-icon. This way users like nynaevelan don't have to disable the script completely but they just can let it autorate songs when they want. Anyway your problem, nynaevelan, may be solved in this version anyway as I changed some problematic parts. Additionally I optimized the script a bit so that it works more fluently and there's no more redundant work under some circumstances.

Hope there's some improvement now.

I think I may be back in business. So far I think I will only disable the Autorate at startup, will let you know if I run into any problems, but so far so good. I think alot of my problems were stemming from conflict with the MM LastFM plugin, every since I disabled that my SQL and backup lockups disappeared. Thanks for the update now I can go back to rating as I should be and now that those pesky errors are non-existent I can see the difference in the speed. Good job.

Looks like the new one's working fine, Berny, thanks. I would like to note though that since I started using the update through the Extensions panel, MM hasn't been shutting down properly when I restart it. I get a Windows error that MM has stopped working and needs to close upon exit.

Steps:

1. Wait for current track to stop.
2. Update ARA through Extensions panel.
3. Close MM (to restart per update).
4. Error occurs here.

I don't know if this is a problem with your update method or with MM itself. If necessary, I will report it as a bug in the main bug reporting forum just let me know what you think as yours is the only script I've ever updated this way before.

Never had this problem here. But the update-feature hasn't been tested much because there's no documentation and Peke just told us some days ago how we can use it. So it's quite probable that it isn't completely stable yet.

Altough I have two questions:
1. Does it only happen once? After a restart it works fine again?
2. Does the error also appear if you update the script by hand? (Probably no but just to be sure)

1. Yes, it works fine after restarting. No further errors.
2. I honestly don't recall but don't think I ever got the error with a manual installation. I only noticed it after the last couple of updates in which you included the option to update from Extensions.

I am updating the original way and I have not run into the shutdown errors.

First of all, thanks for a great script. It's really great to have all my tracks rated automatically based on my listening preferences.

However, I believe there's still a problem with ARA 2.3.5. I'm experiencing the same problem that others mentioned previously, that when autorating, the progress bar seems to indicate that the process is nearly complete, but autorating still takes a long time (minutes) to complete after that. I've been trying for about a week or so now to figure out what's causing the problem but I've come up empty. Sometimes the autorate process will complete as it should, but this happens only the first time autorate is run after 2.3.5 is installed. I thought it might have something to do with how 2.3.5 is installed or which formula is used, but my tests have been inconclusive. I've tried upgrading from 2.2.1 to 2.3.5 and doing a clean install of 2.3.5 but it didn't make any difference. It also didn't make any difference which formula I used. I've gone back to using 2.2.1 even though it's slower but at least the progress bar behaves predictably. I wish I could give you something more to go on, but that's all I've got. If there's any other diagnostic information that I could provide, please let me know.

The first time it can take a while to complete because a lot of songinformations have to be modified. That's why the prgoress bar isn't accurate then. But if you don't change the formula afterwards then it should run a lot faster the next time. Have you tried that?

To be honest, I've tried so many different things, I don't remember anymore. (Nice troubleshooting, huh?) Anyway, I'll give it another try later today and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the quick reply...

Yeah, let it run it for a while. If it doesn't work let me know. I'll improve the progress bar anyway.

Your suggestion did the trick! The only time it takes a long time (about 10 minutes for just over 16000 tracks) to autorate is when ARA2.3.5 is first installed or when the formula is changed. Other times it takes only a few seconds. Thanks for your quick and helpful reply and keep up the good work...!!

The only change is that the AutoRating can be aborted again with the progressbar. Worked in versions before 2.3.
