As far as I know you can't downgrade from MM 3.1 to 3.0 because the database has changed. This would explain your problem. If you want to downgrade you have to restore a backup from your older database which I hope you've done before!
But thanks for the report!

Would be great if you could vote in which directions the development of this script should go. Right now I have exams but soon I have some free time, so vote now!

Thanks that was the problem. And all I had to do was restore the backup.

Linking plays in with last.fm somehow would be pretty amazing, but complex i understand. Instead of giving tracks 3.5 stars to begin with checking last.fm for popularity of song on a per album basis would be pretty cool as has already been mentioned.
Or updating plays per track from last.fm once at the beginning, or whenever. Because i've got scrobbles/plays on my last.fm that don't count towards my autoratings which skews things quite a bit, since there are a lot of them. I know both of these are difficult to implement since last.fm has strict connection rules, but even if it was a run once leave forever thing to update my library just once i'd be willing to wait the week leaving it updating for things to sort themselves out :p

Actually one little thing, thought i'd play with the 3.1 beta, but AutoRateAccurate isn't playing game when it gets to phase2 it seems to be looping and creating another phase2 over and over... Shame i've had to disable it for now!

Do you use 2.4.2? This bug should have been fixed in this version.

Stalls mm3.1 for twenty minutes

When I first start Media Monkey 3.1 (latest build) and start playing a song, the song gets 80-99% done and then autorate 2.42 kicks in and stalls media monkey for 20 minutes (not kidding). I can move the mouse and open options and even download podcasts, but nothing will play. The player is locked up.
Phase 1 goes very quickly, but phase two take 20 minutes and no music will play during this time.
Alas, I have uninstalled it until 2.43 comes out

Hi antiduplicity,
I noticed that too. Don't know why it happens now.
Altough you don't have to uninstall the script in the meantime. Just disable "AutoRate at startup" so it won't start the autorating-process after each start (=after playing the first song).
I'll fix it as soon as I have my holidays. (Maybe it's even a MM-bug... Altough it doesn't happen here anymore, are you sure you use the newest version? Just to be sure so that I don't invest hours into fixing an inexistent bug.)
@alexdodd:
No problem!

remember now you guys.
3.1 is in beta form and some things might change in how scripts work,
i know the skins did in beta form for mm 3.0 so this might be caused by some changes
in monkey and not the scripts fault, best to wait until 3.1 is stable released version.
that way you won't have to be fixing errors then un fixing them. or re fixing them.

Just out of interest i've never really looked into just searched through this thread and it was somewhere round page 19 where you spoke of it first but i can't quite work out what the:"Apart from SkipCounter and status also write Points into customfield" option really does? I do sync my media with my iPod and another computer (with Robocopy which only syncs changed files) i have a feeling that ticking this option may help copying wat are essentially duplicates over? I just wonder what other effects it has? I can't really find any proper documentation for it although i really have had a look through the thread!
Cheers you've been more than helpful!

@alexdodd:
This options just also stores the points of the different files in the customfield where other information is stored. It's kind of a debug-information if you want to create formulas by your own.
If you enable the problem is that all songs get changed very often because the point-values change almost every day. So MM (or in your case robocopy) would always want to sync.

Ok here's the summery of the poll. Total votes: 38 (up to three votes per person were possible)
26% All perfect! I need no improvements.
Great! I'm really happy that so many users think it's perfect for them!
18% Make it faaaaaster!
Well, there's only very little room for new improvements now. There may be some little tweaks in the next version but don't expect too much. Altough in the next generation (AutoRateAccurate 3.0) there will be new improvements here. But it needs a lot of changes of the code and I didn't worked on it yet. So users with this wish have to be patient for now.
18% No idea! You're the developer, so decide yourself!
Cool! I'm sure I'll find something to work on.
15% The interface needs some work. It's too complex and complicated...
Yep! I know and I'm already working on that. Wait for the next version.
10% I need new features! (post ideas!)
The only suggestion which has been posted untill know affects the last.fm-support. Altough this needs some thoughts first because data access is limited on last.fm (1 query per second - which is a looooong if you have >10000 tracks...). Also I'm not completely sure if it's a good idea to assume that more popular songs are better. This would be a step away from individual ratings to 'public' ratings. Have to think about that. So I'm sorry this wish won't be fulfilled in 2.5.
10% It's not stable enough. (please post bugs if you find something)
Good news! All reported bugs (and some unreported) have been fixed already - including the possible playback delay when AutoRateAccurate was active.
Thanks for participating! It was interesting to see what is how important for you. Fortunately it was about the same I thought too.

Next version will be ready in 2009 as I'm away a few days.
So happy new year!

1 Question

Your script is about the best thing to happen to my music since...well, Mediamonkey.
Seriously, this script should be standard.
I have a quick question. I am about to go to the darkside and buy an Ipod Classic 120gb as my Iaudio X5 is getting a bit long in the tooth.
I read before that you have an Ipod as well Berny. I know that Mediamonkey/ARA 2.4.2 won't be able to "know" if I have skipped a song on my ipod but theoretically, it SHOULD update playcounts. Will Autorate Accurate then reflect the playcount changes and update? If so, it would really make my day.
Thanks a lot for the scipt.
