Re: Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix 3.7.4 (2010-08-21)
Thank you for creating this script, it is exactly what I'm looking for after accidentally copying most of my music before editing half of it.
I have installed the script and am having a little trouble. The only nodes that come up are "Find More from Same, Search Result (0)" which branches into "Seeding tracks (1)" and "Selection: Autosearch 1 (Seeding Tracks Excluded)" which branches into "Artist Equals" and "Title Equals" and then the selected tracks are listed below with the filename next to a (0) to show that no duplicates were found.
So, the first problem is that there are no nodes for Unanalyzed Tracks, Same Content, or Keep/Delete Suggestion, etc. So I can't compare the duplicate files to see what values I want to keep and which file to ultimately delete.
The second problem is that it should be displaying between 1 and 4 duplicate files and hardly anything is coming up as a duplicate. Am I doing something wrong? How do I get it to work correctly?
Thank you for any guidance!!
Also, is there a way to do for more than 100 seeding tracks?

@sickofusernames,
Thank you.
"Find More from Same" is intended to use on single or very few tracks. Try "Custom Duplicate search" instead, it has all the features you need.

Re: Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix 3.7.4 (2010-08-21)
How can I modify the script to compare the Custom fields only before certain character?
Song1.Custom1 = "ABC ! DEF"
Song2.Custom1 = "ABC ! XYZ"
those two would be split by " ! " and found as having the same value

Depending on what you're looking to do, MagicNodes may be of some help. If you're looking to just "find more from same," then it wouldn't really help you. However, if you're just looking for duplicates then something like the following might do the trick:
The would give you a node that displayed sub-nodes for any custom 1 value (before the " ! ") that has 2 or more tracks with such value. In theory anyway.
Code: Select all
Some Node Title\<Custom 1|Exclusive left of: ! |Min tracks:2|Unknown:No>-

Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix is more powerful and practical to combine similarities in different fields and filtering
Is there some query that can by modified to search "starts with" instead of "equals"

Not exactly what you want but you can try to use Find More From Same and then manually edit the search text. I.e. remove the right part.

Re: Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix 3.7.4 (2010-08-21)
so i have around 18k songs and i recently reformatted my computer. i copied the mm.db file from before i reformatted over but i accidentally gave myself a different username when i reinstalled windows so the folder structure is incorrect. now i have duplicates of songs that are grayed out. when i try copying and pasting a large number of metadata tags, mediamonkey hangs and i have to close it through the task manager. anyway i can get this to work without it crashing every single time?
Re: Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix 3.7.4 (2010-08-21)
Pasting metadat on a large number of tracks can take a while (hours) but it should eventually be succesful. You can do it in smaller batches (500-1000). Do you really get a crash?

Re: Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix 3.7.4 (2010-08-21)
when i do small batches of around 100-200 tracks it works fine. once i go to 300+ it hangs and i have to terminate the program. it pastes the data sometimes but i have to manually check which songs were updated so i can delete the grayed out ones. the progress bar at the bottom doesnt even show up. the send error report windows pops up as well.Bex wrote:Pasting metadat on a large number of tracks can take a while (hours) but it should eventually be succesful. Copy/Paste metadata
This is one of the great MM scripts
and I think the devs are looking for feedback from scripters for MM4.
The "Copy MetaData" menu item is not necessary if they can give access to the songlist that is copied when the normal "Copy" is clicked or a Copy event.

@CaCHooKa Man,
I'm sorry but that log isn't useful to me.
1. With which method do you transfer metadata?
2. What happens exactly when mm crashes? Errors?

Re: Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix 3.7.4 (2010-08-21)
In a 'Custom Duplicate Search' I'm using the the suggestion nodes with these settings
In Filter, Oldest Added, Lowest SongID.
But when multiple song items are 'In Filter', the ones that are chosen are not the 'Oldest Added'
Is this expected?

Sorry for the delay...
I'm not sure I'm fully understand what you mean but if the first criteria can determine if the track should be kept or not the subsequent criteria is not considered.
