Upgrading question

I'm planning to upgrade my Gold version of 2.5.2 to 2.5.3... I assume I simply install the new version over the old, or do I have to uninstall the old version first? Thanks.

I always install the new over the old without an issues I can detect.

If you do want to uninstall 1st.
Backup your scripts and plugins folders, your mediamonkey.ini and your database file.
You'll also have to re-enter your registration code so have that handy too.

OK thanks... backing up seems too much like hard work so I'll just go the simple route.

You can try my "Backup" script to ease backing up - but I always install over the top! :)

Couple of questions.
I have a older version 2.4.1. Is it wise to install the new 2.5.3 over this one ? Will it be a problem? I'm thinking it might be a bit old to upgrade...fresh install would be best?

If I backup my scripts and plugins folders, my mediamonkey.ini and database file, I can just paste them to the new installation folders and the database with playlists and everything will be intact?

I've haven't had any major problems upgrading new releases over an existing installation.

Trixmoto's backup script works great and makes it simple to have a good backup.

And I released a new version yesterday! :)

I always install over the top, so I don't think you'd have any problems doing this. Always nice to have a backup in case though!
