Color coding in MM

Hello:

Is there a way to color code song information depending on which folder files are kept in? This would be particularly helpful in searching for duplicate files.

For example, I have three versions of "Song 123" by the same artist, same duration. Version 1 is the radio version, version 2 is the album version, and version 3 is the instrumental version.

I keep each file in 3 different folders, but they will always show up as potential duplicates. If I could color code the songs by folder, I would know immediately that although they appear as duplicate files, that they are three different versions of the same song and not truly duplicates.

Thanks!

How do you tell which version you are playing? (or have I missunderstood you?)

I simply add the extra information into the title field in order to differentiate between each version. eg:

Song 123 (radio version)

I know this may not be what you're after. There is currently no colour coding system in place, and I'm unsure if a script could produce it either.

Color coding of various file types, bitrates, tag types (id1, 2 and lrc), possible duplicates, and more would be a welcome addition to MM.

The Godfather has had color coded files forever (and they are configurable too). I used to use TGF before I came across MM. It's very powerful, but also quite complex and sometimes confusing.

Hmmm, I can see that if you had the exact same version of a song in differing formats (eg mp3 and a lossless) then a colour code system would be fairly useful.

This is why you have the Files to Edit node (at least for some things). I'd rather see a better duplicate node (smarter) that could help with these type of things.
