MM goes wild when using Multimedia keyboard media keys

Hi,
I have a Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical keyboard, which has media keys for playback/pause, stop, etc., and when I try using them while the MM window is not focused it starts skipping through all tracks until the window is focused and a track is selected. This is quite irritating, and actually there is not much use of these keys when you need to maximize/focus the MM window in order to use them... I hope you guys work this out, because everything else in MM rocks!

Just MM?

Do other media programs have problems too, or is it just MM?

Nope, it;s just MM, all other media programs work fine.

Well, I have seen similar problem that ocures in different MMKeyboards but mostly it is regarding calls that MMkey sends to MM. Eg. most MMkeys use Winamp calls to parse ply, pause, stop,... to MM, but some of them do not archive that the code needed is executed and you have a problem

search for new MMKey Drivers it may help. Let me know if it helps or not so to find way to figure it out something.

Mgla,
I have the same device and ... the same behaviour! (I also have approximatively the same computer configuration as yours.)
Works perfectly when MM is focus but when minimized...
Unfortunately i observe the same problems with MM 2.2 (alpha 3 release).

NB: i had the same problem with another (very cheap) MMkeyboard (ie. not a Logitech), have a look here:

No problems here

Octopod or MGLA,
I've tested MM's multimedia keyboard functionality using a keyboard emulator, but could not reproduce this problem. Can you:
1) e-mail me a debug log that shows what happens when you:
. a) click 'Play'
. b) click 'Next
2) Install hotkey control XP (a multimedia keyboard emulator) from
http://www.digital-miner.com/hkcontrol.html , and let me know if you experience the problem in the same manner.
Hopefully this'll allow us to get to the bottom of this problem.
Regards,
Rusty'

Rusty,
I guess it could be fixed by adding MM in the Players.ini file that comes with the drivers for the Logitech keyboards. I mailed you that file and if you could tell us the syntax of the line that has to be inserted for MM, it would probably fix the problem.

rusty,
I made a mistake writing:
Octopod wrote:Unfortunately i observe the same problems with MM 2.2 (alpha 3 release).
I only installed MM 2.2 alphas at office and my logitech keyb is home
The problem remains home with MM 2.1 (b1.595) though.
Do you want me to operate the manipulations you requested with MM2.1.595 or with MM2.2a4 (if any difference)?? I was waiting for a beta or RC version to install MM2.2 home...

I think there are two possible options for the Players.ini:
MediaMonkey=cmd,MediaMonkey.exe,Winamp v1.x,xxx,xxx,40045,40046,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey
(which sends WinAmp compatible messages to MM), or
MediaMonkey=wac,MediaMonkey.exe,Winamp v1.x,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,MediaMonkey
(which probably leaves everything to MM, because MM should be able to handle the input).
That's all I can suggest without actually having the keyboard...

Great!
Just tested this solution and now my MMkeys works perfectly with MediaMonkey (2.1.595) minimized!

Finally i decided to install MediaMonkey 2.2 alpha4 home and the solution you suggested still works
Sometimes "Pause" is ignored the 1st time but it's not a really important issue...
Mgla: is it also ok for you?
Jiri: thanks for your support.

I use the same keyboard as the topic starter, but even after trying the two hacks above, MM keeps going wild when I use "next" on my keyboard and MM is in minimized mode (visible but small). I'm using the RC release.
It's odd because it works fine with WinAmp, iTunes. Foobar only works when visible, but doesn't do anything at all when minimized.
