Is that your first attempt to burn a CD? Is it working with another software?

I don't have the first problem you mentioned, but get the same burn error. Also using ME, which I'm suspicious of. Was told to look for beta release "Alpha 4" shortly which has some burner enhancements that may help.

i told ya i was falling asleep i read external hd. and that is kind of like networking. not much but kind of.

as for the missing plugin that might be the trouble but i don't know which it would be. but i do remember last year sometime there were lots of posts about nero causing trouble with cdrom burning do you have or did you have nero on the system?

roxio ? do you use the avg program? and did you get the new roxio drivers from roxio's site.
they made them back in febuary because roxio and avg were fighting amongst them self's and the cdrom was catching the flack.

if you don't use the avg program them maybe the av program you use is causing the conflict.

or it might even be rixio not liking the external cdrw.?

:-?

I was the other "guest" with same buring problem "no writable device" On HP running ME. Thanks for mention of Nero. I do have it on PC. Will try uninstalling. I've also replaced the original burner (just because I had a newer one), but got the same error before and after.
