Hello - I have a quite large collection, and I like to fill out the genre and year-tags automatically in some way. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? The only options I've found so far scans each album or file, then check some server and present you some options - but if you'd like to tag 13000+ songs, this seems a bit too time consuming

So, has anybody figured this out?

You're talking about the Genre Finder script? It can do the trick but it takes at least one second per song. You can select all desired tracks and let it run all night. But I have some doubts about the results.

Personally I have tagged all my 26000 file myself. It's almost a daily work...

Sounds interesting- I'll try it right away.

You can speed up this script if you are happy to run in artist or album mode, but obviously this probably provides less accurate results (as one artist's songs often span different genres). You can also provide white- or black-lists to improve the accuracy of the results as well.

Thanks- I'm trying it out. Sometimes I get an error #438 on 'lst.Item(...).Occassion' (I'm wondering if the spelling mistake has anything to do with it?) in Line: 0, Column: 0. Oh well, I'll play with it some more and see what's happening, and respond in the appropriate thread once I know more. Again, thanks for all your great work.

Sorry, this typo appears on lines 941, 982, 1049 and 1164. I think 1164 is the crucial one. You can open the script file in a text editor and do a standard search and replace to correct this.

What about the year information - genre finder doesn't do this as well does it?
