Error Trying to Burn CD

Tried to burn a CD of mp3 songs using MM3A6:
1. Rec'd MM3 error message 199680
2. Chose reburn, inserted fresh CD
3. CD writer powered up to full speed & stayed there, with no progress on progress bar. Right-clicked on progress bar & chose terminate. Closed MM3.
4. Task Manager revealed MM3 still was running in the background
5. Couldn't eject CD
6. Shut down computer & chose terminate when computer said it couldn't close MM3.
7. Rebooted, gave MM3 another chance, receiving same error again.
8. Gave up after 3 wasted CDs

and burned the CD using ITunes w/o problem - same drive. Before doing so, I again rebooted as MM3 again continued to run in the background after program was closed.
Using Sony CD-RW CRX220E1, 52/24/52
2.4 Ghz P4, XP Pro 1 GB Ram
I was in the artist node when I started, highlighted the tracks - all from 1 album - and then chose " Burn CD/DVD" from the Tools menu.
Thanks, Danny
Emailed error messages as prompted the first time thru.

Has anyone else had this problem or been able to reproduce this?
Thanks, Danny

I haven't had that specific issue, but I have had problems burning CD's with MM since around 2.3 or 2.4, when they initiated a new burning engine. It has gotten better through 2.5 and 3.0, but still if I do have any error while burning I end up needing to reboot. Even after forcing MM to close there's something that causes the computer to hesitate every 4 or 5 seconds.

Thanks for your response. Sometime this week, I'm going to try it on a different computer. I'll post the results...

That's exactly the same effect I see whenever there is a CD READ error in MM 2.5. For some reason MM's handling of CD errors causes the OS to go pear shaped. it won't even shutdown properly .. have to use the power button.

Hi, Rusty - I just sent an error log, but couldn't locate an HPCDE.log file. How to generate/find? The instructions said it was supposed to be automatically generated.
Thanks,
Danny

HPCDE.log is mostly located in root of your system drive (c:\HPCDE.log) along with few other MM exception/debug logs.

Thanks, Peke. Found it there & submitted it today. Hadn't looked there because my boot drive is drive E...
