win98se Beta Problem

Hello
I installed the Beta version on a WIN98SE. When I try to start MM there comes an error "Die Datei MediaMonkey.exe ist verknüpft mit dem fehlenden Export-User32.dll:UpdateLayeredWindow" (sorry only in German). I can only click "ok".
I can only start the "non-skinned" version. But there I have the problem, that there is no text in the menu buttons. I can only see the icons, if there are any.
Strange.

its the program media monkey.exe has caused an access violation at....
win98se might not support the needed database info for mm 3.
maybe you need to update it.
go to
http://www.majorgeeks.com
search for " The UnOffical 98se Sp3 "
some one has put all the known updates he could find
in a zip file and called it by that name. its the last updates
for 98se that microsoft released. the same person also did one
for windows 98 so make sure you get the correct one you need.
if that does not help then try going to microsoft.com/download
and look for the windows scripting host 5.7 and install it. then go and get windows direct x 9's last version see if that will help.
but what you really should do is put win98se out to pasture,
it is now unsupported for 2 years and the new emails are changing files for vista so its getting iffy on how long a good working win98se will be of any use.
i put my win98 to a stand alone jukebox 3 years ago.

I will try it.
On my own PC I have XP, but I just tried it on my daughter pc, which is a little bit older.

if she wants to use win98se with media monkey.
then she should use the mm 2.5.5.998 version its the last version of mm 2.
it will work on win98se fairly good but there are still things that might be needing updates on 98se from that file at majorgeeks.
and the microsoft jet program might need updated on the 98se.

It's because MM3 Beta 1 uses function which isn't supported by Win9x systems ... this will be fixed in Beta 2.
Problem not fixed with Beta 2

I have the same problems as Globi stated with win 98se, also after upgrading to MM3 Beta2.
The music will not play either, the selected tracks just becomes gray.
The good news is that using the location node is quick again with updating album art and tracklists. With MM2.5 and 60000 tracks on the server the delay had become so large that I had to find othe techniques to navigate for my records.
If only I could hear the music...
