B2: Some Details concerning Play # and Rating (No Bugs)

Hey,

I just downloaded MM3B2. I dunno if this is the right topic, but there are a few things that should be changed (in my opinion).

The first one is about the rating of songs. If your mouse's over the rating stars and you accidently touch the left mouse button you'll lose your current rating. I guess it'd be better if you need to doubleklick those stars 'till you'll be able to change the song's rating. Especially because you can rate songs quickly by using hotkeys or the rating function of the player (so you won't have to change it in the playlist window anyway)

The second thing concerns the time a song has to run to get played in the "played #" field. Unfortunately this counter goes up if the seek bar reached the end of the line - not like in MM2 where it went up at about 30% of the complete playing time. That's the problem: If you move to the end of a track to listen to several parts of it, mm3 will say it's played once. But if you're listening to a track and skip to the next one - ten seconds before the old one ends - it wouldn't count the played song.
That's the "Winamp-behavior" - and I don't like it. Or is there a chance to switch to the "old" MediaMonkey behavior? I dunno how other people think about that but that's really important for me so if you can change it - please - change it.

And... uhm... sorry because of that kind of "english". I'm from germany and I'm a little bit "out of practice".

thx
See ya'round

The logic was mainly changed because of audiobooks and Podcats, where the old logic doesn't have much sense. However, even the new logic has some tweaks, e.g. it won't increase the playcounter in case you have just played a very small part of the track and advanced to the end of track.

Try to describe in more details why do you need this, hopefully something working for you could be found...

i third this...i usually skip to the next track cause i don't like the last part of many songs...they can usually get a bit repetitive (specially true for salsa) so when that happens i just press next :)

I give it a 4th... I can understand the reasoning, but I think this ought to be a user configurable setting. Play-counts mean a lot in music, especially for those who keep statistics or even utilize Last-FM.

As someone mentioned, if I am listening to a track and skip ahead during the outro-phase (e.g. the last seconds), then I expect the playcount to have increased.

The ideal for me would be that if one has listened to 50% of a song, the playcount is increased.... i.e. you've listened to a majority of the song and the playcount should increment.

Ok, based on this, I wonder whether it wouldn't make sense to increase playcount differently for Music and differently for Audiobooks and Podcasts...

Yes, also in my opinion this would make sense. :)
