Auto-Tag from Filename variable entry method issue [F4035]

In 3.0 the method of entering the <variable> tags is very difficult to work with compared to having the set of buttons running underneath the Filename Format field. Having to right click, scroll down, double click... to add a single tag, is a pita.
How about having an option to have the button bar run underneath the field? Isn't that how it was in 2x (I could have sworn it was but it's been a while!).
It's really really annoying
Thanks

No response so I guess I'm the only one who dislikes the way you construct the organize file name tags?
Let me ask this a different way. Is there an option to put the Autotag From Filename dialog into the mode it was from 3.0? Not having the buttons/tags under the tag field makes this process very cumbersome to use. You shouldn't have to click multiple times to do what used to take 1 click.
This is the main reason I bought MM in the first place and because of this 3.0 is a step down not up.
That aside I still love the product and use it, but frankly I've left the x thousands of song files I need to organize sit because it now takes 3 times longer to structure the autotag string.
Auto-tag is annoying

I agree that there's room for improvement.
In the next build you'll find that the '>>' function is added to the 'Configure' screen.
We also want to make the list that appears upon clicking '>>' remain open until '>>' is clicked again, but are not sure when this will happen.

I like a lot more the old system. The new one is realy frustrating. javascript:emoticon(':-?')
In fact I don't really understand why it was changed.
Let's wait to the next build to see if it becomes more convinient

Thanks for the reply Rusty and Dread.
I also agree that the old method would be the preferred to maintaining the current popup (considering the available options). But I'm assuming that as a shorter term change there might not be enough time to revert to the old method.

I also want the old input method for entering variables back!

This will stay as is for 3.0
We plan to improve it for the next release.

:/
Well, hopefully it won't be long. My thousands of files will be sitting for a while. It's simply too difficult to manage files now with this new ui change.
Any expectations when we'll see the old method returned, or something "hopefully" better?

Can't give you a date for MM3 and you want me to give you a date for 3.1?

Afraid to ask, but any movement on this? I haven't tried any new beta versions yet to see.

The current beta has as Rusty described in
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 809#114809 . IMO it works well.

Looks good. Keeping the drop down active until closed seems like a good easy solution to the problem. I'll make comments here if I run into anything odd, but thanks for coming up with something.
