RC3: auto volume analysis --> playback problem [F4097 RC4

Hi,

I just found a really major issue.

I installed all MM3 version since RC1 and all was fine.

A few days ago i activated the auto-analysis feature (tracks & album volume analysis as a background task) and let MM compute all for a few hours. Then i didn't use it for a few days.

Now, ALL my 12 Ktracks are analyzed (tracks & album) but today i found that no track can be played!!! Works fine with other players (WMP11 for example)

My theory (to be confirmed): only tracks added to the library BEFORE mass analysis (or before MM v3, not sure) will play! I have a few albums that can be play (added recently), the older ones cannot. And if i remove some old tracks from the library then re-add them they will play.

Somebody to confirm this?
Any help would be appreciated to avoid resetting my library... (even a script that reset all volume analysis)

Thanks in advance.

I complete my own theory: only tracks added to the library BEFORE mass analysis and that was not analyzed yet won't play...

Just another "funny" thing : when a track is so hanged and doesn't play, as soon the menu "Player | Volume leveling" is changed, the track starts playing.

Then if you try to play another track and go back to play this one:
- it will always play now!
- the player position is restored...

Really amazing behaviour
Help!

Up.

I confirm that all the tracks that were part of MM2's DB are not playable anymore.

Well, seems nobody's interested or concerned by this issue.

So i think nobody's interested by its solution...

Sorry, I haven't seen this thread yet. Could you e-mail me some sample tracks with this problem? So far we aren't aware of any problem in this area...

what plugin are you using. maybe it is messing up?

so all you did was level analyize the songs. ? i'll see if the ogg files are affected that way?
:-?

nope i did anaylize by right clicking on the song and clicking on it where it was listed on the context menu.

i did it with all the options unchecked,
then i checked one of the three.
then i checked two of the three.
i then changed what one was unchecked then tried it again.
the songs still played.

i even closed mm 3 rc 3 and started it again and the songs still played..
i have no idea what caused your trouble but the ogg files seem to handle the anaylizing just fine.
:-?

Actually, tracks were not involved but only the DB.

The problem is gone after manually cleaning DB fields in Songs table.

I reset the following columns: OrigFileLength (NULL), PlaybackPos (0), Web* (NULL), Cache* (NULL), Preview* (NULL)

I don't know precisely where was the problem but it's ok now... All i know is that my MM2 DB as been converted with RC1, then RC2 computed all tracks & albums volume ; then only tracks added to the library by MM3 where readable (and tracks that were not part of the library as well).

Minimal and default plugins used.
I tried removing ALL the unecessary DLLs from the install dir and also by changing out plugin: no change

I just tried to identify the modified field(s) that allowed to restore playable tracks.
Actually, setting column PlaybackPos to 0 was sufficient to fix my library.
Hope this could highlight a potential issue.

auto-analysis playback issue

Octopod,

We were trying to fix some flac-related auto-volume-analysis issues before investigating this. Now that those have been resolved, I've been able to replicate this issue.

In my environment, the problem occurs for any tracks that match a filter for which playback rules have been configured to enable bookmarking. In a default environment, that is any Podcast or Audiobook.

Does that match your experience?

Yes i think it is close to my problem.
I realized after posting that both problems raised at the same time (please have a look to this post http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23066).
