I'm a longtime user of mediamonkey gold and absolutely love it and know my way around it. my problem is the new 160gb ipod i just bought. mediamonkey puts the tunes on the ipod and sees it and plays it when connected to the pc but when i disconnect it from the pc to play from the ipod directly it tells me that i have no music on the ipod. any ideas of what i'm doing wrong.
thanks in advance for the help!

Do you have the most recent version of MM? Synching with the iPod classic only works with MM 3.

yes, I'm running 3.0.1.1127. When i move the files to the ipod, mediamonkey sees the files and can play them but i can't play the ipod itself once i've disconnected it from the pc. any suggestions?
thanks again!

I've experienced the same with my new 160GB ipod classic as well, but after several attempts which ended in a complete uninstallation followed by a new installation of MM3.0, it worked... For a while... If you disregards details as album art appearing to be synched at random. (From the same album identically album art-tagged, some songs get their art, some doesn't.)
But now I'm back to a problem where the iPod doesn't get updated when I try to sync. What's on it already is available, but it won't update with music I add to the library. And the auto-playlists aren't updated accordingly either. Every time I try hoping for a miracle, it ends with a "Invalid pointer in module d_ipod.dll"-message. Today I tried updating to the latest Beta 3.0.2.1131, but that didn't make a difference.
Help will be apprechiated. I'd hate the solution of letting my gold license for this otherwise great program rest, and start using iTunes instead...
Best regards,
Torkel

Try to use the debug version and e-mail me a debug log. Hopefully it will make clearer what's going on.

I got the 160gb ipod, and I got the same problem as them.
I upload music, then I unplugg the ipod and it tell me that I have no music, but the space its still occupied.
I need an answer, because uploading music with the itunes... really sucks.
thanxs.
I think I found the way

Do this, it worked for me:
a) f_ck up your ipod with MM
b) go to iTunes, restore it and actualice it till latest version (right now is 1.1)
c) keep the device turned off
d) remove it with iTunes and then close the application
e) connect it and open MM3
f) throw everything in... I mean EVERYTHING
g) then remove it safely with MM
h) turn it on, choose the language and enjoy your correct tags and album art.
=)
until now its how I make it work.
I will never plug it back, because if you open iTunes it will tell you it no longer works, and if i open it with MM, I dont know if I will be able to remove it again without fucking up
I hope this works anyhow for you.

I've had this problem too and presuming that the above method works,
the problem I have with not opening iTunes ever again is how can I load my videos onto my ipod?
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with my brand new iPod Classic 160gb. Based on this thread, I tried uninstalling iTunes. It worked like a charm. Once iTunes was off my computer, I tried synching a couple albums using MM3 and sure enough, my iPod Classic was able to access them and the album art was there, too.
Now my only question is how do I download photos and videos on my iPod without iTunes?

I have had the same problem and have experienced another.
While synching 120 gigs MM will stop after about 80 gigs and tell me the device has been disconnected. I then have to restore through i-tunes and start over.
Right now I am synching only through I-tunes and I hate it. My 8 gig nano (2nd gen) works fine through MM but not the 160 gig Classic.

Well I thought I had it working. When I tried synching just a couple of albums one at a time, it worked. Then I tried synching the entire library and part of the way through it stopped. At that point, I could still access the individual albums I had originally loaded individually, but could not access any of the albums done as part of the larger synch. Hmmmmm. Now what?
