MM3 downloading same podcast over and over

Post by douga »

I have a podcast that I subscribe to, but every time MM goes out to check for new podcasts, it redownloads all the podcasts it's already downloaded. I've been using it for 2 days and I have 3 instances of all the podcasts.

Anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?

Which version you're using ? Latest is build 1137 (available in beta testing forum).

I'm using build 1132. I had first set up the podcast using http instead of itpc, since I didn't think it supported itpc (most don't). I switched it over to itpc and haven't had the same problem. I'm only getting one copy now.

douga,
If I understand correctly you have a podcast subscribed three times?
That is strange, because MM should tell you that you have been already subscribed to the podcast on its re-subscribing.

Nevertheless you can remove the duplicate subscriptions via context menu.

No, it was only subsscribed once, but every episode was re-downloaded whenever I updated the podcast, even if it had already been downloaded.

I take back my previous post. It's still redownloading it.

As you can see I already listened to the Mon, Feb 11th podcast, but it's queued to redownload.

It's also queued Fri, Feb 8th's for download again, and every other episode in this podcast.

This is the only podcast it does this in. I thought I had it fixed but I guess not - it's going to make this a pain to maintain - may have to resort to Juice.

Any ideas?

A link to Podcast itself could be very useful.

I think I figured it out - it seems to be an issue with the subscription service. It seems to generate some random key in the URL for each episode. I can understand why Media Monkey would see these as 2 unique items, although somehow iTunes handled this ok.

Below are 2 links in MM for the same podcast episode -

http://rss.premiereradio.net/download/g ... 8/02/Glenn Beck - Feb 11 2008 - Hour 1.mp3

http://rss.premiereradio.net/download/g ... 8/02/Glenn Beck - Feb 11 2008 - Hour 1.mp3

The podcast feed itself is located at:
itpc://rss.premiereradio.net/glennbeck/podcast.xml

douga, I added it to my to-do list in order to fix it.

Btw. The feed requires authorization, do you know another feed with this issue that doesn't require login and password? If no, where can I obtain the login information or purchuase?

Thank you for your help.

The subscription page is found here : https://members.premiereinteractive.com ... /41405.htm

Other than this small issue, this is a great piece of software. I've been looking for an iTunes replacement for a while and this is it!
