hidden extra track at the end of a cd

Hiya, long time (very long time) no see... just a question:
how do you guys deal with an extra cd track at the end?

I mean, MM only find the last 'official' track, gives it a totally wrong playing time, because the last track is in fact 2 tracks with a lot of silence in between...

Just wondering

NP: Gary Moore - dark days in paradise (with an extra track at the end)

True, but I do think that most of these are one track.

At least when I play them in my stereo I have the long pause as well. Not sure if my CD player sees them as 1 or 2 tracks.

What does your regular CD player say and do?

Hi LL, indeed on most cd's it is only one track (that's why they call it hidden). But I wondered if MM has a possibility to name the first 5 minutes of a track song A, call the next 2 minutes 'silence', and call the last bit the 'hidden' track: B.

That could come in handy to for very big tracks (the original Tubular Bells for instance by Mike Oldfield), that cd only has 2 tracks but on the vinyl record these were divided in different 'parts'...

Personally, i edit the last track (using CoolEdit) and cut the silence creating:
- a shorter one (if only a few seconds at the end of the silence)
- or two tracks instead of a single one, naming the last one "bonus track"

Using prebuffer and gapless settings may also "reduce" the silence when played.

Octopods solution is the way to go. The problem is that MM has no way of knowing that its more than one track. Secondly some users want to have it as one track.
An intelligent solution in MM would be nice where MM would ask what to do when it encounters a track with a lot of silence (options would be rip as one, seperate and ignore)

Unfortunately you can't edit songs in MM.

Thanks for the answers.
Personally, I don't want MM to change or edit files (I play mostly cd's after all).
But the possibility to divide a track into 'chapters' would come in handy.

Something like:

+ A Saucerful Of Secrets (Pink Floyd)
-- a. "Something Else" 00:00
-- b. "Syncopated Pandemonium" 03:57
-- c. "Storm Signal" 07:16
-- d. "Celestial Voices" 10:14
