Ipod Touch, mixing Itunes and MM (Beta 2) - Album Artwork
Aloha!
I recently posted that I had a couple of tracks that would not play, no matter how often I synched them. After installing Beta 2 I took the plunge and did a total reset on my Ipod Touch (1.1.4, 8 GB). I then:
* Set it up on Itunes (all on manual), not putting ANY files on it (no photos, no contacts)
* Set it up on MediaMonkey, synched ~ 750 tracks to it.
All the problematic tracks now play. All tracks had correct Album Art.
Then I took Itunes (latest version) to copy over a couple of .mp4 movies. Just drag'n'drop to the Touch.
All movies synched fine. All movies play. All music plays.
But the Album Artwork now is totally bonkers.
Most tracks have no art at all.
Some tracks have art in coverflow but not in lists and normal mode.
All movies have a thumbnail from one of the albums.
So once Itunes touches the album art database, the thing goes nuts.
Losing cover art for me is more a nuisance - as I now can PLAY every track on the touch I am a pretty happy user. I consider it a huge improve over Beta 1.
Thanks for the work so far. If you need more details (debug logs, databases - my touch is unlocked so I can send internals), send me a message.

Hmm,
does anyone have the correct "covers" on mp4 video files after syncing? After using the Media Monkey 3.xxx for syncing my iPod classic I have "funny" (and wrong) albums instead of the correct pictures on all my videos!
All music album are correct (at least after doing a complete database refresh), but the videos are still going crazy until I use iTunes to change each videos informations which recalculates the album art (=preview) of the video!

I'll check this soon, because...
...after updating my iPod classic to 1.1.2 I would have to install a new iTunes for (re)organizing the mp4 files (everything else I do already by the MM3)
...to install the new iTunes I would have to install a new service pack for windows (and that's the overkill for my small harddisk of my old notebook)

Album Art for Videos gets mixed up?
Hi,
I just tested 3.0.3.1175 and cannot replicate the problem. I tested as follows:
1) Synced 4 videos with iTunes and verified that the Album Art was correct
2) Auto-synced 100 tracks and Podcasts with MediaMonkey, and re-verified that Album Art was correct
3) Synced 1 video with iTunes and verified that the Album Art was correct
Could it be that the problem you're experiencing is a manifestation of:

Strange,
I've around 5500 songs and 50 videos (mp4) and 1200 pictures on my iPod - and all music covers look fine.
In the meantime, I've installed a new iTunes 7.6 (but not on my own notebook) to refresh all video images in the preview list (there ar no covers added, iTunes just takes a thumbnail of the first image of the video) by editiing the information text of each video one by one
Then I just used the new 1175 beta to put a new song on it and made a total database rebuild (takes quite a while) and now I have some totally black icons and some music covers for the rest of the videos - all music covers are correctly assigned...
I'm not sure 'bout the volume check mentioned in your mail, but after using iTunes, everything looks fine -- anyhow I'll try do to further tests...

I'm also using 3.0.3.1175 and iTunes 7.6. The Soundcheck option in iTunes is not enabled, so that isn't the issue.rusty wrote:Hi,

My story:
1. Synced 23 songs using MM, all have proper art.
2. Synced 3 movies using iTunes, everything still seems to have proper art.
3. Synced 82 songs using MM. New albums have proper art, one of the movies now has album art from one of the new albums as the thumbnail. Album art from 3 or 4 of the original songs also replaced with the new art.
I'm also willing to supply any logs necessary. I'm syncing manually.
Another issue I'm getting (though I'll probably make a separate thread to report it once I have more information) is that when I have two songs, same album, same artist, different art. The same album art is shown on the iPod for both tracks after syncing.
I have all my Album art in a single folder and using the "Link to image file". Not keeping them in tags.
I can constantly reproduce on an Ipod Touch. Once I copy .MP4 VIDEO over with Itunes and then do another audio synch with Media Monkey, the album art gets shuffled for some albums and nearly all videos. Several videos now have the same thumbnail, several albums have NO album art.
In earlier builds the problem was MUCH worse, with 1177 a lot less albums change (so at a quick glance it looks like it has worked).
I am willing to do a full device rebuild and then send you the database files from the device after the first MM synch, the Itunes synch and then the second MM synch plus screenshots, if that help in any way. Just PM me and I will do this tonight (GMT) to nail this beast.

I haven't tried with just view files, but just to be sure I haven't forgotten anything, I'll repeat my observations:
I have some mp4 videos on my iPod classic which have no special "album cover" assigned, but when using iTunes and I change the description a thumbview will be automatically created (seems to me, that just the first image of the video is used for that).
This thumbview will appear on the iPod classic when scrolling through thte list of available videos...
After syncing data with the mediamonkey I often have (or lets say had - because I did no excesive tests with the newest beta) some wrong covers even with normal mp3 songs, therefore I do a (time consuming) full database sync before I disconnect the iPod...
...after that, most of the video covers may be ok, but some are filled by some music covers. After the next sync even more (or even all) video thumbnails have been replaced by music covers.

I'm having huge problems with reproducing it. I tried for almost two hours yesterday, synced up all my movies and entire library multiple times in different steps with no issues.
Then today I only sync one additional movie with iTunes, didn't even start MM and the same thing happened.
Guess I'll go play around with it some more.

I can reproduce this if I let iTunes 'analyze volume' i.e. if I copy the movie with iTunes and don't disconnect the iPhone right away (iTunes starts analysing volume after a couple of minutes).
Other than that, though, I can't reproduce.

This is the exact problem I am having as well.
If I sync the songs with MM, then take the moveis from iTunes everything is wacky, has happened TWICE, and I only have 482 songs. I just removed all the songs and am pushing them back onto the iPod TOUCH through MM, but I have a feeling if I mess with the TV shows or Movies from iTunes I'll lose everything again.

I too have this exact problem even with the Release 1183. What can be done to fix it?
